Someone mentioned a "new" place to get treatment in New England. When I searched it out there was an article on Bostonmagazine.com from a couple of years ago, but when I clicked through eventually I reached an article that was very recent about a method of testing that was not a serologic and should produce results very early.

It's interesting. Won't help a lot of the people on the forum, but is interesting none the less.

Boy, wouldn't that be nice.....a test for early diagnosis?!

Btw, link didn't work on my iPad...probably just me though.

The link doesn't work for me either, even though it's set up correctly. Interesting article. Hopefully it will help people in the near future.

Girlie, sorry you had to edit it to make a link. Are there instructions on how to do that? Text that should be a link doesn't automatically make it into a link like other sites.

As far as the article goes, it is interesting especially since it came out of NIH. The real problem though is getting doctors to even consider Lyme and educating people about the symptoms.

It took me 3 months to wear down my doc and he only agreed because he thought it would be negative. Surprised him when it came back positive for an active infection. So now he is learning. To be fair, I live in NC and with Dr Jemsek gone Lyme is never considered. There is also a researcher that is a major Lyme denier. At least he writes lots of articles about it, but I could just be more aware because Duke is practically in my back yard.

As for how to create a hyperlink, I kind of have to talk in code so that the program here won't change it into a link.

Okay, just read that article and it seems like huge news!

"The analysis revealed small molecule metabolites that were unique to the early Lyme disease samples. The researchers then used statistical modeling to assess whether these metabolic markers could accurately categorize early-stage Lyme disease patients versus healthy controls and other diseases. They found metabolic profiling achieved significantly greater diagnostic sensitivity (88 percent) than the standard lab tests and retained a high specificity of 95 percent in diagnosing early-stage Lyme disease. The markers also correctly identified 77-95 percent of early-stage Lyme disease patients who had been incorrectly identified as disease-free by the standard lab tests."

I don't do it that way...so there's more than one way?
