I see on another post that you had pain relief success with Low Dose Nex...(whatever).

Question- Do you have a autoimmune thyroid condition at all?

Thats whats kept me from trying LDN, as my thyroid med for hashimoto can be challenging the way it is and LDN can change your needed thyroid levels.

(My thyroid has been trashed for a long time so I will always need thyroid med, unlike some lucky ones here.)

I know this thread wasn't directed at anyone but bluebyyou but I obviously wanted to throw in my two cents ;)

You could very well need some thyroid dose adjustments (downward) as your body gets used to LDN.

However, one of the main benefits of LDN is modulation of the immune system.

Thyroid autoantibodies are what cause Hashimoto's. Fluctuating levels of antibodies can cause fluctuating thyroid levels.

If the immune system is modulated, antibody production should also be modulated.

My goal as a hypo post-remission Graves' patient taking LDN is to have stable thyroid hormone levels while fighting Lyme :)

If cant find a solution to remedy my body pain (gene mutations ect), then LDN might become my band-aid for it.

(Assuming it will do something for my soft tissue pain.)

cd~how long did it take for you to get from post Graves' to hypo? You would say that LDN help get u there, right? How did you titer with each & for how long before getting to the hypo stage?

I went hypo about 5 months after going off anti-thyroid drugs for Graves'. That was back in 2010 and I'm still taking thyroid hormone replacement. For some Graves' patients, the hypothyroidism is temporary. That's obviously not the case for me.

I'm not sure I understand your next question. Would you please clarify if my comments didn't answer it?

One thing I'm hoping LDN will accomplish is to help my thyroid hormone levels stay stable (right now they're influenced by antibody production). It would be a complete joy if LDN completely stopped the production of thyroid autoantibodies and I no longer needed to take thyroid hormone replacement. It's entirely possible that my thyroid suffered too much damage ala Graves' = atrophied. In that case, all I can hope for is stable thyroid levels.

Sry-I wasn't clear (nor in my mind!). I somehow thought u had been able to wean off of thyroid drugs. So thyroid-wise, what are you still on?

And yes, wouldn't that be great if LDN (along with other LD treatments) will allow you to go off thyroid meds! Sing it out when it happens! :)

I take synthetic T4 & T3 and needed monthly dose increases of one of them ever since I started treating for Lyme.

Once LDN came into the picture, my needs for T3 decreased.....still not back down to the dose I was taking pre-Lyme, though.

Just before Lyme it, I was taking alternating doses of 125/137mcg T4 and 10mcg T3.

I'm currently taking 150mcg T4 and 12.5mcg T3.

One can only hope ;)
