Mold and Heavy Metal Testing - Advice?

Hi, I am on here for a friend again. I do have an update to post about myself and my daughter, but I wanted to get this thread up and running first.

My friend's son, who is 8, is having heart issues. His HR is 180 bpm at rest at times. They can't figure out why. He also has terrible asthma. He walked around with a heart monitor and nothing showed up even when this would occur.
They are testing him for lyme to rule it out, IMO, I dont think it is lyme, but I do think it is related to mold and or other toxic substances/heavy metals.

She took a look at the pipes behind her kitchen sink and found aweful mold growing. So I think think can be a possibility

Could anyone tell me the best type of test for this? I know blood tests are not the best. I know alot of people on here have had issues with this, I am very unfamiliar with this topic, so please help, thanks!!

Sorry to hear about your friend's son, Chapelle!

While I don't have any advice about mold/heavy metal testing, do you know if he's had his thyroid checked?

And, I'm talking specifically about the FreeT4 and FreeT3 tests - not just TSH which doesn't tell all that doctors seem to think it does. Both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can cause elevated heart rate (sporadically as well) and asthma-type symptoms.

I must admit I also wonder about Babesia...

No matter what, hope they get the answers they need!

Dr. M ordered a urine test for heavy metals from Doctors Data for me. It seemed to be very accurate

C4A is thought to raise values in mold, fungus (candida) and lyme. LLMD's , functional MD, and naturopath mds use this as a guide. The more I treat candida , the # goes down.

There is one mold site the is the best source for into, cant remember the name now.

Metal testing ing best at the cellular level. Spectrocell is one company. Standard blood work for m,etals is not that accurate.

Real Time Laboratories offers the best mold test. However, it is expensive-around $700-800. It is much more accurate than Lyme testing. about 25% of the population is highly sensitive to mold. There is an HLA genetic test to see if a person has this genetic mutation.

There is a mold documentary similar to Lyme. It was free to watch (and may still be). It is a great introduction called "Moldy." If you do a search on the forum, Garden Peace posted a link to it a few months ago.

Dr. Shoemaker has the best website on mold.

I second CD's suggestion of looking into Babs. Mold often imitates Lyme and Babs. They cause very similar symptoms. Mold in the home environment needs to be professionally remediated. The spores get everywhere. I highly recommend checking out Moldy. Mold can also prevent one from healing from Lyme or other co-infections.

I don't know much about heavy metals testing.

Also, they are finding that a lot of people with mold have Lyme and Co. Mold is a very common co-infection. People who treat and can't recover from Lyme often have mold issues.

I don't know anything about the mold issue, but am very suspicious that my house may have mold inside the walls due to a water leak a few years ago...perhAps the cause of my sinus pain and headaches?

W/regards to heavy metals; I'm an old 'friend' of heavy metals....I did a provoked test that uses a synthetic amino acid administered by I.V., and you then collect urine to send to DR' s data lab where they measure the metals. I do know that after I had 8 sessions of I.V. chelation(to grab a hold of) , that my heart Palps, asthma, other symptoms were lessened. I should say though that my asthma was likely caused by Mycoplasma AND chlamydophilia pneumoniae.

I'm not sure that mold OR heavy metals would cause a fast/elevated heart rate though-heart Palps yes, but not a fast heartbeat.

The Thyroid test is a GREAT suggestion. Hyperthyroidism= too much of the hormone does cause increased heart rate as well as asthma like symptoms.

I hope your friend can get some answers and treatment. My grandson is 8, & I'd be SO worried if he were dealing w/those symptoms.

I had my daughter's hair tested through Doctor's Data (she is 7). She showed extremely high in two metals found in our well water. It's a non-invasive way to get an idea of metal load. Since she is showing high, we will likely have the urine test which seems to be more accurate. I will know once it's done and can compare.

I'm going to take a wild guess as to why your friend's 8 year old son is having heart issues with 180 bpm during rest. Is it possible he is suffering from anxiety? I know I suffered from anxiety as well as panic attacks when I was a child (I remember a panic attack when I was 5 years old) that continued into my adult years. I have a chemical imbalance that's in my family genes. All the females in my family suffer from anxiety/panic attacks (nothing to do with lyme)...

What is this family's situation like? Normal or above average stress and/or fighting, etc.?? Money problems and anything else that can be causing stress...

Just something else to rule out as stress affects us more than we wish to acknowledge...

I was tested with the Real Time Labs urine test and came back positive for Tricothecene. Positive results are shown if the patient shows higher than 0.2 ppb. My test showed 2.87 ppb! Of course the MD's don't understand mold any more than Lyme disease.

My Naturopath prescribed a mixture of two meds that were made by a compounding pharmacy into a liquid that I inhaled through my nose with an atomizer. They were Mupiricin and Amphtercin along with a Chelating agent. Unfortunately it seems that the FDA has put all compounding pharmacies out of business, so the meds are no longer available.

I am currently on Nystatin and Byron Whytes A-Fng drops. I had noticed fairly strong improvement during the five months I was on the previous meds and have since relapsed significantly. My primary symptoms are the heart (Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia) My heart rate reduced from an average resting rate of 140 to around 100 and is now in the 115 to 125 range. This while I am on 200 mgs of Metoprolol. My other mold symptom is incredibly heavy mucous production. I literally blow my nose hundreds of times a day. This is pretty much back to the way I was before the mold testing; very discouraging.

I hope my Doc finds a better med soon. And that your friend's son finds a diagnosis and good treatment.

I just wanted to let you know that I have talked to a couple people who are using Sporonex with great results. There are definitely other meds out there.

At least one of them (probably both) uses the atomizer (I think they are the meds you used) as well for the nasal passages. Maybe you can find a different compounding pharmacy. I know there are some online compounding pharmacies too. I get the pure Nystatin powder from a local compounding pharmacy.
