I did a search on here for HLA 15-6-51 Chronic Lyme gene and not very much came up. Do any of you know if you carry this? I do and my doctor does not feel it's necessary to take cholestyramine for it, which is what I have read is the fix. If you have this gene, do you take anything special to help get rid of the biotoxins? Also, anyone with this gene cured (or remission)? Strangely, I haven't herxed at all on antibiotics (2 months now). And I'm not getting worse, just pretty much the same (maybe slightly better).

I've not had any genetic testing done, but I had chronic Lyme for 40 yrs. I'm not sure I understand what you mean about it being the chronic Lyme gene. Meaning you won't have chronic Lyme if you don't have that mutation?

I have no idea! I really almost wish I didn't know this information. My LLNP did some gene testing that has DQB1 and DRB1 and the result was that I have the 15-6-51 gene (chronic lyme gene) which supposedly means I will never be able to get rid of lyme toxins on my own. She said people with this gene might fight it their entire lives. Gee that makes me feel positive! I am not sure what to make of all this. The strange thing is, you'd think if this was my problem then I would herx like crazy? Which I haven't, not even once. Or, maybe that's why? Who knows. I would think that if this was a big deal then others on here would have been tested for it.

I believe this gene was identified by a Dr. Richard Shoemaker who has written a book about mold.

Well, I surely wouldn't worry myself over that information if no one can explain it so that you can understand it. I was told all kinds of dooms day predictions because I was infected for so long before seeking answers - yet I healed and I know that there are a bunch of other amazing stories of healing.

And after being infected for 40 yrs, and having great difficulties in getting my body to detox, I'm likely a prime candidate for that gene - yet I have healed. Too much information can be bad when it can't be explained properly - all it serves is to scare us at that point. I would suggest that you put that information on the back burner for now, don't let it slow you down on bit.

And many of us have issues with being able to detox well enough on our own, that's why we talk about detoxing so much here!! I had to make it my full time job (quite literally) to detox and take my herbals in order to heal. I did this for two years.
