Hello,

I was diagnosed with lyme about a month ago. I see both an LLMD and a naturopathic doctor. I was put on a variety of herbal supplements, and I take a few antibiotics per day (azithromycin 250mg 1xdaily and cephdinir 2xdaily). My LLMD has me started on a lower dose antibiotic to avoid a strong herx reaction, but so far I haven't experienced any kind of herxing. The first few days after the azithromycin I was a little shaky, but nothing like I have read about online.

Even though I have not had a herx, I have noticed some improvement with my symptoms. Is it possible to be on antibiotics for lyme and not herx?

Hi jbousquet - I'm glad you came back here with your question.

Sometimes it will take longer than a month for a herx to happen...and not everyone will herx on every protocol. You don't have to experience a herx in order to get better.
It could also have something to do with the lower dose you are on.

Your body may be efficient in flushing out the toxins...ie - no herx.

The fact that you have improvement since treatment started - is very good!!!

So, yes it's possible to be on antibiotics for lyme and not herx. But, you should employ some good detoxing methods - because even though you haven't herxed yet...you still could...

And 'a little shaky' - could be your herx.

I just wanted to chime in with my agreement with everything that Girlie said. It's all up to how well you body detoxes and that you may not have "found" your herx due to the lower dosages and that you haven't been on the abx long enough yet, as well as the need to detox anyway.
