Sara:
I was getting cortisone injections in my foot for a neuroma and I developed a very bad infection. I had to go to an infectious disease dr for this infection because of the type of bacteria it was. They had me on a very strong dose of another antibiotic. It was just too many to be on. I had to clear up this foot infection first. I had already been on the abx with the LLMD for about 3 months. Plus a long time with the abx for the foot. I did not want to take any more.
Also, I did not really love the LLMD. He was good but he was too far away, and as much as this might sound a little crazy, he had a bit of a heavy accent and whenever I called him on the phone, I felt like it was just too difficult communicating. He was a challenge and I could not deal with it. His fees were very reasonable though. He was about 2 hours away and between gas, tolls, and a whole day event, I just could not do it anymore.
There really are no LLMDs on Long Island and anybody that is not that far does not take insurance. I cant afford some of these drs that charge $700 and up for a consultation.
I could do some of the protocols that I read about, but I just find it so complicated that I get very lazy and don't do it. I have been dealing with this for well over ten years and I have had it. I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars over the years and have taken many different supplements. I have gone to a lot of natural drs. (not lyme specific). I have done saunas, acupuncture, muscle testing, cleanses, detoxing, etc. They have all helped a little bit. I think I would probably not be functioning at all if I did not do anything.
Thanks for your advice. What about you? What is your situation?
