Bactrim added to Zitho/Mepron experiences?

Zitho/Mepron isn't doing enough for me. Options are to add Bactrim or switch to a totally different abx protocol. Thoughts on your experiences with adding? Thanks.

This is a classic Dr. H protocol no one's done it of late? Come on people ;o)

I don't have any experience treating Babesia - but Dr. M.R. from Seattle also suggests adding Bactrim if the Mepron plus Zith isn't working.

"Atovaquone Combinations

Atovaqone (Mepron) 750mg/5ml combined with one of the following 5ml two times a day. In 1 to 2 months if night sweats or other babesia symptoms are not improving then increase the dose to 10ml two times a day. Combine it with one of the following:

azithromycin (Zithromax) 500mg 1 time a day,
clarithromycin (Biaxin) 500mg 1 pill 2 times a day,
doxycycline 100mg 2 pills 2 times a day, or
minocycline 100mg 1 pill 2 times a day.
In addition if these combinations are not working I sometimes add

sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim 800mg/160mg (Bactrim DS or Septra DS) 1 pill 2 times a day to create a 4 drug regimen. (Atovaquone/proquanil (Malarone is two drugs in one pill)."

I am finding that many of us treating for Babesia are doing it on their own and that obviously means herbals.

Some of us aren't candidates for abx anymore (as in myself - my symptoms are so mild that I doubt a healthy person would necessarily even notice them).

Some of us are dealing with LLMD's that won't treat without positive test results....and we know how hard it can be for that to happen.

There are some people on here who do pharmas for Babesia but they don't post daily.

The best we can do is keep bumping your thread.

Try doing amoxicillin..If it doesn't work you might try IV of ampicillin..Very effective early on.

You need an antimalarial for Babesia - amoxicillin/ampicillin won't do it.

Or, as cd suggested - using herbals....

thanks everyone. i've tried several herbals and they don't seem to do much for me. even on my abx protocols i never get much relief from the babs. looking back i think i did have lyme symptoms that i was attributing to babs but they're gone for the moment and the resistant babs remains (was igenex positive for duncani).

i'm going to add bactrim to the zithro/mepron combo for a month and see how it goes. i wish i could pulse so i'm not flooding my body with this crap every day but it is what it is. i'll keep y'all posted.
