Annette, you will continue to have inflammation issues until you kill the bacteria. Lyme is an inflammatory infection. You would literally fight inflammation practically every day for the rest of your life if you waited until you had it under control to treat these infections.
If you have addressed inflammation, then move on into treatment to finish addressing the cause of the inflammation.
Catchscooter - stick to those that know about
these infections - ND's can be ILADS trained as well. If you wish to see an ND, just be sure that they are ILADS trained, but better yet, get referrals like you are asking for!! Those that have been treated by said doctor will know if they are capable of healing them or not.
I would ask them if they take patients even if they aren't CDC positive, how many Lyme patients they have healed - without them relapsing? What protocols they use? Do they use any herbal preparations? What do they do when the patient plateaus, and more.
We have a really great list of suggested questions on page 2 of the "New to Lyme? Start here!" thread on the forum if you would like some more ideas. We are finding more and more doctors, even LLMD's that are giving in to the demands of their peers or the medical boards. You should kind of know where they stand before spending all kinds of money with them.
You also do need to increase the amount of detoxing you are doing. We have a great list of things you can do for detoxing and here is another great resource:
www.tiredoflyme.com/detox-methods.html When I was in treatment, I seemed to have the same kind of issues as those that have the MTHFR gene mutations - so I figured it was best for me to assume that I did and work to get my body to detox much better. It took a lot of diet changes as things with my body changed, I used a foot soak daily (the full baths were too much for me), taking ALA, dry skin brushing, making sure my bowels moved at least once a day (sorry if it's TMI!) pushing myself to drink at least 64 ounces of lemon water each and every day, liver/gall bladder flushes (all natural), oil pulling, taking activated charcoal and keeping the amount of stress in my life at a bare minimum.
