I understand how people who were left untreated for a long time would be dealing with more toxins for the reasons GH listed....the dead bug parts alone certainly exacerbate things.
However, I was in excellent health when I got bit by the tick - I had no symptoms before the bite and none after.
I do not believe that the 3, super-mild and transient symptoms I developed after going off my PCP's 21-day doxy prescription indicate a build-up of toxins but, instead, the effects of an inadequately treated infection.
I often wonder if I would even be dealing with these infections had I not taken abx for a UTI two months prior to the bite.
My feelings about abx in general have changed dramatically since becoming infected. I long ago recognized that abx are over-prescribed and, now that I know there are herbal abx options, I will choose that route first moving forward.
It was with NO difficulty that I politely refused the Z-pack my GP offered me when I told her I was on the tail end of a cold.
It's because I came into this mess symptom-free that I want to end things symptom-free.
I completely agree with DB that some people risk damage from taking abx for too long. Well, I took abx (doxy and amox) for 5 months and have been treating herbally since then.
I feel much, much better overall since I switched to Buhner because his protocols incorporate targeted herbs that help the body heal and others that provide immune support.....along with herbs for detoxing. Killing herbs are optional.
Stopping treatment for me will translate into weaning off the killing herbs and I anticipate doing that once I've enjoyed a couple of months of occasional (no more than once/week) muscle twitches. Each day seems to bring me closer to that point.
As long as I herx with any type of facial numbness/weakness (or any other symptom which I really don't experience at this point), I plan on taking killing herbs.
Immune support will be part of my life...for the rest of my life. It was before and there's no reason to not continue. Heck, one of the things I agreed with my GP about is that my lifelong exercising is one of the main reasons I hardly ever get sick....and if I do get sick, it's with a short-lived cold.
I haven't made a decision yet about the detoxing herbs nor the organ-specific ones. I may take low doses of the former....and I already know stuff Red Root (for lymph health) will always be at the ready for future use. I know I'll continue to dry skin brush, though - I'm hooked on it :)
Just as treatment for these infections is individual-specific, the decision to stop and how that happens is also up to the individual.
May we all find healing....however we get there :)
