IV abx

Sorry you are feeling no improvement. That can be so depressing. I like your doctor's caution about the IV. They can cause more trouble sometimes. Most people that get IVs are those that have horrendous problems with their stomachs taking the antibiotics. They have huge troubles and it is their last option. It would be my last choice. Just my honest opinion.

I think a lot of the members are busy with the holiday and someone with more experience than I, will be along soon. I just didn't want you to think no one cared. I do care.

I started consistent treatment 8 wks. after the tick bite. I had 3 super-mild symptoms at that point.

Treatment (or should I say herxing on treatment) translated into me dealing with a total of 40 different symptoms....not all at the same time, thankfully but we're still talking a lot of symptoms.

My life was impacted by herxing many times.

After 5 months on abx, I was down to a couple of mild symptoms. Almost 6 months on the full Cowden protocol resulted in a lot of herxing but no improvements.

4 months on Buhner's Lyme, Babesia and Bartonella protocols have me at 98-99%. I feel awesome.

I think IV abx should be a last resort....used by people who cannot tolerate oral abx. The risks are just too great.

Treating these infections takes time.....a LOT of time. I read it's not uncommon for people with new infections to sometimes take up to 2 years to heal.

A lot depends on the health of the person's immune system, the actual infections they have, any pre-existing conditions, their ability to detox the dead bug parts out, the reduction of inflammation and healing of the parts of the body attacked.

Perhaps you might focus on these other aspects of healing and let the abx do their job. Dealing with these infections requires a patient patient.....a really patient patient.

I agree with the others - there are so many serious risks involved with IV or PICC lines that they really need to be reserved for those with severe digestive issues so that they can't tolerate oral meds.

This is not a quick and easy infection to get rid of, we have to be in it for the long haul. It's a marathon, not a sprint. The Lyme bacteria only "cycle" once every 4 - 6 weeks in a body, so you have only made it through one "cycle" - there won't be much progress in that amount of time, but many do heal using orals - either pharma or natural, but very few actually heal with just a few weeks of abx unless they started treatment when they had only one or two symptoms or just the bulls eye rash.

If you aren't making progress, it's usually because there is something "blocking" your healing - like another infection which could be tick borne, fungal, or viral.
