Minocycline/Nystatin reaction plus die off question

Oh, well. After feeling almost healed (90%), on Monday, My Lyme doc took me off Doxy and put me on Minocycline pulse and Nystatin for my Candida. I'm supposed to start Tindizole next week. I have been horribly spacey and forgetful, with a stiff neck and pressure in the head. I did have a horrible herx last night after taking the Minocycline - all neck pain, burning, numbness in feet, arm, both hands, brain buzzing, anxiety, feeling like I wouldn't make it to the morning...

I'm usually not THIS spacey. It's taken me 3 days just to do the laundry. This morning, I can't focus at all - completely exhausted and stressed out and feel like taking a nap. Is this Candida die-off and are there different detox methods other than the usual Lyme ones I am doing to help with Candida? I read something about adding more Molybdenum?

Those are definitely die off symptoms! I"m so sorry. It could be from the Lyme or Candida though.

Doxy only kills those bacteria that are in the spirochete form which is when they are replicating, allowing the rest to go into their round body form or into biofilms and such and not be touched by the abx.

Mino actually crosses the BBB (Blood brain barrier) and can kill the bacteria in the brain as well.

I would encourage you to increase what you do for detoxing slowly, but increase the number of things you are doing to help your body detox.

yes, i think traveler is right that the mino crosses the BBB and doxy does not - that could be the cause of spaciness.

i had severe brain fog as a result of candida die off, however, nystatin does not get absorbed into the bloodstream, so I don't think it is possible to have systemic candida die off just from nystatina alone. i would say maybe if you had major bloating or gas issues or heartburn that could be candida die off due to the nystatin - but not anything outside the GI tract - what do the others think? do you guys think i am right on this? i have been pondering this thought for while myself!

So, I did some extra detox (Dandelion tea and lemon water) and that took the brain fog away. Seem to be fine now! Thanks, Trav for reminding me.

My doctor said my immune system is very good at killing, so I have to be careful about herxing. He is happy with my progress but I can't take anything really high dosage. His approach is to get you as healthy as possible with minimal herxing so that your immune system can fight everything off itself. He works closely with a homeopath/herbalist that I also see and she gives me the herbs, Des Bios, etc. I think his general protocol/approach is when you are symptom free on Doxy, he switches from Doxy to Mino/Tindamax pulse every other day to coax out the remaining lyme and kill it. In his opinion, he thinks my lyme is under control and I am presenting more clinical symptoms of mold/candida issues, so he is addressing all these simultaneously. I'm only 4 months into treatment. He said it would take about a year...He just gave me an LDI shot for fungus...says the fungus is in my brain (the name starts with a T but I don't remember it) based on symptoms (I tingle in my head if I eat even the tiniest bit of sugar). So, I'm just doing what he says (plus all my supplements, gluten free, detox etc..) and help from y'all! :)

Also - minocycline - has side effects - dizziness, spinning sensation, nausea, loss of appetite.

I felt 'head' issues when I was on it - they got better after a few weeks.


I wonder if it's pulsed, though, would those side effects remain...

Right now, I am taking 100 mg Mino every other day (2nd dose last night - bad herx) to get used to the Mino for a week before adding the Tinidazole. On Monday, I am supposed to do the LDI shot. Then he wants to see my reaction to the shot, then he said after that to add (1) 500 mg Tinidazole, taken every other day with the Mino. So, I guess he didn't want me starting everything at once because we wouldn't know what did what or if there was a problem...

I was just reading some posts and it sounds exactly what like LymePickle tried before???? Did it work. The homeopath has me on the DesBios Nos series for Lyme/Babs and the DesBios Remedy for Bartonella. I never really herxed on the Lyme Nos series, but do herx on the Bartonella, but not as bad lately....such a puzzle...
