I start with a grocery list and I stick to it. I can easily get swayed by shopping in a store with my eyes and buying impulsively. So rule one stick to the list.
Now on that list is no junk. You won't find ice cream, cookies or any packaged food on the list, therefore it is not in our house.
Next is buy too much vegetables. Instead of having a protein, a starch and a vegetable for dinner. Have a protein and 2 vegetables. If the vegetables start going bad you will feel awful throwing them away, so eat them up.
Buy healthy snacks. Nuts, apples, celery sticks, carrots, rice cakes are yummy with almond butter. I always get a couple of protein bars and carry one in my purse so I won't get hungry and stop for fast food when I am doing town errands.
