possibly lyme...scary

Hi everyone, i have been experiencing some bizarre symptoms over the past few months and i was hoping you could help.

around september of this year, i started noticing this strange weakness in my wrists and thought nothing of it. as the weeks went on, however, the symptoms evolved into severe arm and calf aches, a "pulsating" feeling in my palms and feet, and joint pain to the point where i was sure it was arthritis. I also noticed i was experiencing tremors, usually in my hands and feet but sometimes after standing for a little while my knees would even begin to shake, and i thought my head was nodding a little bit but i thought that was psychological only. I finally decided to see a doctor and he assumed it was lyme, but my Western Blot came back negative. However, i tested positive for mycoplasma pneumonia antibodies, but was a bit skeptical of the diagnosis becasue my symptoms didnt really align.

I was prescribed doxycycline and within a few days my arm and calf aches essentially disappeared, and my tremors got much better. The symptoms had certainly been alleviated, but not completely eradicated. Whenever i tried to hold something still in my hand my hand would shake noticeably and sometimes i still felt like i could feel the blood pumping through my arms and legs if that makes any sense.

As of lately, I have been even more concerned about all of this because it seems much worse than just mycoplasma. my tremors are definitely still there, sometimes worse than others, and my calves feel pretty tight sometimes. I've also felt particularly susceptible to the chills when i go outside; its not like normal chills, but i can like feel my heart pounding, my teeth chattering, and all in all it just feels like my body is almost shutting down.

Does this sound like lyme to any of you guys? I deep down believe it is undoubtedly lyme, but the doctors think otherwise and the negative result of the western blot hints that it is not.

any insight would be greatly appreciated. I will list all of my symptoms so they are easier to see as a whole.

Symptoms ( in chronological order)
-weakness in wrists
- insomnia for a few weeks
-extreme calf and thigh cramps- they felt like they were always sore even though i couldnt exercise because i was nervous it would worsen things
-waking up in the night with severe arm aches, particularly forearms
- bad night sweats
- hand tremors that began in fingers but eventually progressed to the point where i had to move my entire arm to use the different letters on a keyboard
-about a week of migraines taht felt like someone was trying to rip my eye sockets out
-legs shake, most noticeably near the shin bone
-a few times during class i had to leave the class because this weird sensation of almost passing out struck me

After doxycycline
-aching in arms and legs went away, but tremors still persist (noticeably fingers, hands when i try to hold something still, and head nodding).
-some days symptoms are worse than others
-sometimes i feel like my brain is shaking inside my head


This is extremely aggravating because im torn between thinking it is something as mild as a misdiagnosis or as severe as an underlying tumor or something ridiculous. any insight is greatly appreciated.


Side note: i do smoke a decent amount of marijuana; it helps me ignore the symptoms and fall asleep easier at night.

First question is what lab was the Lyme test with? If it wasn't through IGeneX than I wouldn't put too much stock in its accuracy.

Also, I have also tested high for Mycoplasma. From my understanding, this can be a coinfection with Lyme. I never had a pneumonia or pneumonia-like symptoms in my life.

not sure if that helps. I'm not very versed in medicine whatsoever but those are my lab results from my visit about 4 months ago

A Western Blot usually lists the actual bands tested and the results for each.

It sounds like you've listed the summary of the test results.....do you have the actual results for the individual bands?

Usually, you'll see something like 23-25 + and a list of a bunch of other numbers with symbols or letters after them.

You will get great insight here as there are many knowledgeable board members.

Your symptoms sound a lot like tick disease symptoms. DS has Lyme, mycoplasma and babesia. The night sweats (typical of babesia) came out the worst when he was on doxy daily for a month. Mycoplasma can take months to get rid of if you are battling other tick diseases according to DS's LLMD.
