Lyme Disease and Gastric Bypass

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease about 2 months ago. Almost 3 years ago, I had a gastric bypass due to unexplained weight gain. I've actually probably had Lyme Disease for 27 years (due to when my symptoms started), but I also have a more recent infection. My question is...Has anyone else had any issues with treatment since they have Lyme Disease and have had a gastric bypass? I live in Louisiana, where Lyme Disease supposedly doesn't exist, so doctors here have no clue what they're doing. I found a doctor in the Dallas area that will at least treat me, long term. However, he's not had much experience with patients with chronic, untreated infections that have had a gastric bypass. I still have complications from the gastric bypass surgery, and now I'm throwing the Lyme Disease on top of it. Mainly, I have chronic stomach and intestinal ulcers. I had them before the surgery, but I was negative for h. pylori.
Any useful information about Lyme Disease and Gastric Bypass will be greatly appreciated! There's not much information out there. Btw, I haven't yet starred treatment for Lyme Disease.

Wow, that is a lot to take on - a major surgery like that and lyme..... goodness.

Melissa I have no advice on the gastric bypass part but I did watch my sister go through that and it was hard for her to get enough protein into her tiny tummy.

I think you are going to have to totally heal your insides from the bypass first before you can attempt treating the lyme.

Best thing to do is find a lyme literate medical doctor or naturopathic doctor that will treat you. Is this what the doctor in Dallas is?

As far as the unexpected weight gain - I did that too. I gained 40 lbs in 6 weeks without changing my diet or my activity levels. For me it was due to severe adrenal fatigue that took my thyroid down as well. I would encourage you to look in to those to make sure those aren't the cause.
