Hi astro -
First, I'll spare everyone my typical rant about
how lazy, indifferent, unconcerned and criminally negligent the medical industry is, by-and-large, with the limitations of "known" science and ALL the information there is yet to learn. MDs aren't taught how to be inquisitive in school, therefore they absolve their responsibility to patients of expanding their knowledge base. In MY profession, if I was this unprofessional, I WOULDN'T HAVE A JOB. My profession isn't nearly as impactful/important as life-or-death situations managed by the medical industry. By that measure, these MDs are certainly doing harm and shouldn't be practicing. This is why most MDs need to be fired.
Anyway, I wanted to ask you about
something but I also wanted to chime in about
tests. Can you explain your first sentence - didn't understand it.
I came across this article by LYMEPOLICYWONK not long ago - about
the CDC's 2014 announcement that it "recommends that lab tests cleared or approved by FDA be used to aid in the routine dx of lyme". I thought it was very interesting:
"Is FDA approval required for diagnostic tests? No, FDA approval is only required for tests that are marketed to other labs. Single lab tests, like those offered by IGeneX and Advanced Laboratory Services (ALS) do not require FDA approval. Instead, federal law requires that they undergo a rigorous validation process established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA). CMS and CLIA require developers to prove that their tests are accurate, precise, sensitive, and specific prior to marketing. Both IGeneX and ALS diagnostic tests are CLIA and CMS approved. Why is the CDC asking for more than compliance with federal regulations?"

This is why they need to be investigated. If you haven't already, please sign Tuttle's petition. In fact, might be a good time to bump that reminder.
