I'm working on putting together a list of my symptoms, treatments so I can seek advice for my next steps. In the meantime, three people in two weeks have told me that my eyes are extremely red. This must be intermittent, because every time by the time I get back to a mirror my eyes look normal again. This never happened with my first go-around with treatment. I'm wondering if the early-March tick bites infected me with something new. Bartonella?

I would encourage you to look into Bartonella as well. I know that it loves the eyes!

Yep, I'm guessing Bart, too....that's my biggie and my eyes get red all the time. I'm kind of getting used to looking stoned all the time....makes me look cool. :)

I haven't found anything that helps - my eyes are super dry some times, too. Eye drops do nothing to help. I go through contacts like crazy. I was on glutathione pushes for a long time and it did go away and my eyes improved then, but my veins are shot right now, so am taking a break for a while from the IV form and am taking oral, it's just not as potent unfortunately.

Hi notquitesoscared13!

As you mentioned could be Bartonella. Lyme also likes the eyes. I have had good luck using a drop in each eye of colloidal silver, but you may want to ask your doc before using it. CS is very anti bacterial. One note is that you may "herx" and experience redder eyes for a day or two before they clear up.

Also, Stephania root tincture taken orally is very good for infections of the eyes.

Just wanted to chime in and mention I had eye problems as well. Burning, dryness feeling, like I got smoke in my eyes, but BAD, and usually worst first thing in the morning. I am treating for Bart, and when I first took Buhner's herbs for it, symptoms got extremely worse. At one point I woke up in the middle of the night with my left eye seeing nothing but a strobe light for like 30 seconds. I was terrified, but it went away. Now I have NO light sensitivity issues, great vision, and almost no irritation. All I take is Sida Acuta, vitamins, and Houttuynia.

Bart has a low toxicity level, but for some reason you can still herx on it. Buhner thinks it might be from breaking up Biofilms, giving your body more to attack. Either way, soon after treating for Bart, most of my symptoms went away. Most importantly, FINALLY, most of my heart issues.

My red eye problems started one summer several years after my initial infection in 1988. The eye MD diagnosed it as Uveitis. It would come and go but sometimes lasted several months. Blood red eyes. The first time that it was acknowledged as being from Lyme was 3 years ago. My primary MD called the opthamologist and insisted that I had an appointment that very day. This doc asked me if it was caused by Lyme (Lyme was in my medical history), and I told him that I had always thought it had been from Lyme. When I got home I looked up causes for Uveitis, had never really looked it up, and there it was in the Uveitis causes, Lyme.
A few months later I had radiation treatment and my immune system tanked, and the Lyme came forward with a vengence. I treated with several antibiotics at once, which is something that I had not done in the past since I do not have an LLMD. Amazingly, the Uveitis has not come back at all, and for 20 years it was really bad several times a year. So for 2 years, no red eye! I could throw away the multiple bottles of "get the redness out" eye drops that I had carried around in my pocket at work just so I wouldn't scare anyone thinking I had pinkeye, or go through a long explanation about Lyme and redeyes.

My eyes have been red for a several years, and they sometimes burn.

My optometrist says it's old age, but he's my age and his eyes aren't red. And neither are my friends' eyes.
