So if one is positive on band 41 I have been told it is non specific for Lyme's. I do know now that Lyme's is a clinical diagnoses and testing is horrid but my question is if band 41 is from the flagella of spirochete bacteria doesn't that mean it would have to be from one of the spirochete bacteria? And with limited spirochetes that I know of if you don't have the others would you be able to assume Lyme's until proven otherwise?
Or am I incorrect that it is specific to spirochete bacteria and could it be others?

Nberg, you are correct. Many LLMDs will diagnose a patient solely on this band if the symptoms match with Lyme.

I agree with Beeperoni - it could be any one of the spirochete bacteria: Pintas, Yaws, Syphilis, Leptospirosis, Relapsing fever- or Lyme. A person should at least exclude the possibility that band 41 is from these other infections before assuming it's from Lyme, but this can be done by checking symptoms.

On IGeneX web site they say this:
"In addition, the criteria include antibodies to 41 kDa, a common antigen of most flagella-bearing organisms." So it does not specify spirochete bacteria.

And I'm not sure of the validity of this article, but I thought I would share. If I'm reading it right, it says it's possible that some people have natural IGM antibodies to band 41.

Please remember though if the WB was not through IGeneX there could be more positive bands that you aren't aware of. Our Labcorp test vs. IGeneX were not the same at all.
