Hi shanna--
I'm sorry about the pins and needles - that can be really uncomfortable.
What are you doing to detox? Have you heard of LDN (low dose naltrexone)? You might get relief from this - do a search for discussions about this here on the forum and let us know if you think it might be useful to you.
Herxing can produce common symptoms and it can also be unique - usually it produces symptoms similar to your typical symptoms from the lyme & co (which are often different for each person). Or it can be flu-like aches and general discomfort.
Sounds like you're having neuro-related herxing. What we normally suggest for people who are experiencing mild to moderate herxing is to suggest that they increase detox and go a little easier on the body --less activity, rest a little more.
What is likely happening is that your treatment/protocol is killing the bacteria at a pace that your body can't keep up with and the dead debris and toxins produced can't be detoxed from your body fast enough and so you have these herxing reactions to it.
For people who are herxing severely it's usually a sign that the treatment is too aggressive--usually too many abx or too high doses or your body just isn't stable enough to start treatment. Thankfully, more and more LLMDs are bringing viral and yeast/fungal loads down first and supporting immune function, healing gut, etc. before starting treatment.
Your immune system is mainly in your gut so if you have GI problems that affect the mucosal lining or affect proper digestion, etc. it's going to be really tough to process meds and supplements. Plus, no Rx or herbs can heal us from lyme & co alone--we must have a functioning immune system help out. So this is another reason to lessen other burdens on the immune system first before starting treatment.
Hope this is helpful and you find some relief.
