Feeling better...

Couple weeks on Ceftin, Biaxin, and Bactrim and im feeling somewhat normal again. Im supposed to up Bactrim from half tab to full tomorrow, but im kind of scared too. Dont wanna jinx anything..lol. So far, im taking my probiotics and kefir. No signs of diarrhea. I actually usually experience constipation, but my bowel movements have been almost perfect since day 2 on the abx.

Joint pain is way down, brain fog is a LOT better, anxiety seems lower, muscle aches and weakness...still there but really feeling good. Still many other symptoms, like ringing ears, sleep comes and goes, etc.. But overall feeling better. So glad I scrounged up the money to see an LLMD.

I did make one other change starting this past monday. I have Hashimotos, and have been taking NDT, Acella to be exact. I never could get the dose right, over 2 years of feeling like I had either too much, or not enough T3. And at times my RT3 would shoot up. Well, even though my numbers were good, I still felt like crap. I fired my GP and went to see a new doc. I told him I wanted to switch to levothyroxine for a bit to see if I do better. He asked if I wanted generic or Synthroid. I just went generic. Too soon to tell, but these past few days I have more energy, which I found odd since I eliminated direct T3. Ive always had very slight enlargement of my thyroid. 3 days in and it feels normal size again. Keeping my fingers crossed this was the right move. It sure seems it.

I am hopeful. Surely dont wanna get my hopes too high, and I dont know if you can understand when I say this but....these past couple days I am feeling like my old self. I havent felt this way in years. I pray this continues.

trader - that is really great. Good for you for being your best advocate. I love it when we fire our MDs for not doing the job that they are paid very, very well to do. Or for just being lazy and disinterested. All great reasons.

It is common for us to cycle through our conditions... our bodies are an ever-dynamic living thing. So, what works or doesn't work now could change... Knowing your body well and paying attention helps guide us.

Regarding thyroid, there are those of us in the T3 + T4 replacement camp who need naturally desiccated hormone replacement and those who only need T3 or T4, who do very well on synthetic. So your best bet is to find the synthetic partners! Astro is a good place to start--can't remember how he's treating.

Thank you. These seem like simple cold sores, or fever blisters, but ill definitely keep an eye on it. I do have some dry mouth also. So I cant be sure. Ill give it another day. If things worsen ill stop the bactrim and call the doc.

I wonder what he would replace the bactrim with though?

Best of luck with this, Trader! Lysine really makes a difference for me when I get a cold sore, which is when I'm under a bunch of stress. Since my adrenals crashed, it usually takes me about 6 or 7 days to heal a cold sore, but with using Lysine it usually only takes 4 or so days.

And that hurts!! I usually use carmex or campho-phonique gel, which has a pain relieving effect for me.
