Hi Kirky98--
Here's a little context:
I'm on IV Rocephin. I started v-e-r-y slowly as I couldn't tolerate anything at first, herbs, meds, detoxing, even breathing seemed to set me off. ;)
I started the Rocephin daily at a low dose for a few months then I worked up to a higher dose 4 days a week, then took 3 days off. That's what I've been doing for about a year, now.
The first 5-6 weeks when I started the Rocephin were THE roughest of any period of my 18+ year illness. I have lyme in the brain, which it reached and the herxing caused insane symptoms. I spent weeks oscillating on an hourly basis from one psycho-neuro state to the next - one hour I'd be in a panic, then I'd be morosely sad with uncontrollable and hysterically crying, then I'd fly into a rage the next hour, then I'd be shaking with anxiety... I wasn't sleeping. My body was riddled with pain. I don't know how I survived it, to be honest. I now fully understand how suicides happen. This forum and some key individuals (ahem... you know who you are...) kept me focused, I think.
But I started walking again in about a week and was mostly pain-free in my hips and knees about 6 months later. I've had new sx pop up since, as the abx hit new pockets (bell's palsy, tinnitus) and bart flared like a mad dog.
But to your question:
I do not notice ANY change in symptoms or herxing or detoxing between the on/off days. I might have had subtle flaring at first but there was so much going on I couldn't decipher any of it that closely. I am thrilled for the pulsing--it gives my body and my schedule a break and I think has been more effective for me.
Hope this is helpful - I'm sure others will chime in eventually.
