Did they give her a test to confirm? Is there a test to confirm?

I have no clue about this but when possible-when there is a good test-I like to confirm whatever docs tell me. I would learn any pros and cons of the test they gave-best of luck

It would be a good idea to go ahead and test.

My doctor on the first visit said "I'm testing you for
Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and ehrlichia. You are going to start ABX today because we don't need to wait."

After that she would do one month on ABX, test, one month off, test. She did that until I would no longer test RMSF positive.
Personally, I was a fan of this protocol because it helped keep down candida yeast. The only thing I would have some differently is add in herbs in conjunction with the ABX, especially in the off month.

Co-infection tests could be beneficial.

Two weeks to one month of doxy, was not even close for me.. But I was already chronic when the doctor figured it out.

And as you can see by what others are posting, that's a minimum treatment time. I'm not sure how long I treated for RMSF, as mine was proven by lab testing, chronic for many years (decades actually), and was treated as I was treating other infections.

I noted the info on that link was already 5 years old when I was diagnosed with it last Spring. Apparently this has been amended. I don't know who my Internist called on the phone right in front of me to get the dosage and treatment length of 90 days, which he did on the Zithromax later on as well, it may have very well been Columbia University Hospital and Medical Center. He had no idea how long I'd been infected and unfortunately this was the first instance where he completely forgot about me and my labs he'd ordered until I brought it up 3 months later. So there was another long time period I went without treatment.
