ABX and teeth

minocycline has discolored my front teeth - the bottom 1/3 of them...grayish color.
I think it might be permanent.

And doxy can make them a brownish color I think.

I don't know about the crumbling,though.


One thing - if you drink lemon water...it can damage the tooth enamel - after drinking, swish clear water in your mouth...and don't brush your teeth right after.
I use a straw to drink my lemon water.

I have heard of various antibiotics "graying" teeth and whatnot before. My wife was on a lot of antibiotics as a child and throughout her teenage years (her Dr was an over prescriber). She was not the best at taking care of them, but neither was I. Her teeth are generally grayer and I would put it as "a bit more translucent" than mine now. I'm not sure if it a specific group or what, hopefully JBD15 has a comment for this one.

My teeth all of a sudden are not very white, and I'm noticing that they seem to be crumbling a little bit in between the spaces. Not sure if this is connected to abx usage.

I think I was on it for a few months before I noticed it...it's not really bad though...


I googled it...and it can be permanent...it's apparently not on the outer layer of the teeth..so can't be removed by cleaning...etc.

Lyme really impacts every part of ones life. It's overwhelming sometimes. It's also very angering when we acknowledge the fact that our society makes so light of this disease. They think it's not that big of a deal to have lyme. It really is a HUGE deal. It totally destroys your life. Its destroyed mine.

I can't sleep. My muscles twitch. I can't think. I can't have any stress. I can't work. I'm totally poor because I had to quit my job. I don't have any friends. Most of them I pissed off because I had a lyme rage episode. I have poor vision. I feel like I have a hangover every day for no reason. There's probably a million more things that I can't think of right now.

And then people tell you, oh, you don't look sick. Get a job. Or disability says, you only have lyme disease, you can work. That's not a real disability.

Do you know which abx can be replacement for Minocycline?
I am really afraid of its effects :(

No,, as I said, I lost all of my teeth befoe starting any Lyme treatment, although I do have to say that I did use quite a few abx while growing up (now that I think about it, sorry) - so that could make my experience with loosing all of my teeth before trying any Lyme treatment something that can't be used for comparison. I grew up with a lot of oral, bronchial, eye and throat infections, so much so that I almost didn't graduate to the next grade several times.
