Man paralyzed ......

Our local news is saying this man woke up paralyzed from West Nile.

I am so suspicious that it is lyme.

I don't know the symptoms of West Nile...are there a lot in common with lyme?

Is there not a reliable test showing whether it's west Nile?....or is the testing crappy like Lyme disease?

Symptoms and signs of West Nile virus include fever, headache, body aches, skin rash, and swollen lymph nodes. Severe symptoms and signs may include stiff neck, sleepiness, disorientation, coma, tremors, convulsions, and paralysis. Most cases of West Nile virus infection are mild and go unreported.

There is paralysis in this description..... That is my concern. I think here in California there are people that are being told they have West Nile and it is Lyme and vice versa.

Lumbar puncture (spinal tap) might show that you have it.

There is a blood test, but it is lacking. West Nile is a virus so they have no cure.

That is about all I know other than there are a few people with West Nile in my area and I live in area with only 500 people. I think it is more prevalent than they are letting on.
