Hi all I wrote not too long ago my wife developed this tingling sensation a few weeks ago. Sometimes its slight in the morning but every night like clockwork it comes on like a raging bull. Strong in her head, face, arms, hands, feet, fainter in the torso region and never in the butt.

Her bloodwork came back as slightly low in B12, Vitamin D, DHEA. Her TSH is 1.12 (quest says range of .4-4.5 is normal) which seems low. T4 total 6.4, T3 uptake 34 and T4 Free 2.2

She started Armor thyroid, is getting B12 shots and taking DHEA supplement.

I'm worried for her as I hope I didn't transfer Lyme or one of the other co-infections to her sexually because these symptoms and the clockwork nature of it has me worried we're dealing with some pathogen.

I am getting her Igenex tested for Lyme only results not back for a few weeks.

Any thoughts would be most welcome. Thanks.

B12 deficiency and/or hypothyroidism can cause issues such as your wife has. B12 deficiency can actually be a cause of hypothyroidism....and hypothyroidism can cause B12 deficiency (among many, many other deficiencies).

Still, I think you're wise to pursue testing in light of the cyclical nature of the symptoms.

I'm glad she's getting B12 shots.

Since she is taking Armour, her TSH should be much lower if her dose is optimal for her.....I'm talking a TSH .02 or lower.

The thyroid labs she had done are outdated and are missing the all-important Free T3 test. (tri-iodothyronine free, serum).

If that is indeed a Free T4 result, it's quite high for someone on Armour....is it possible you meant to type 1.2?

What kind of doctor is monitoring her thyroid? I must admit I was impressed that her hypothyroidism was picked up and she was prescribed Armour but the doctor isn't running the right tests to monitor her properly.

Please let me know if you'd like an explanation for my comments.

ahh y tsh was .61 so i got my dototor to do a free t3 and t4 and are waitng on the results and yes ive been getting the tingling conastly i would say they are mostly chills that can be whole body or just leg or legs or just upper body but every monring i have chills/tingling in my butt with always makes e wake up by 6 ot 7 and cant go back to sleep becuase of it my doc put me on neurontin 2 times a day 100mg to help with it i think its helping not quite sure tho and i concastly have muscel spapsm i dont know if its the lyme the herxing on the pills

It seems doctors have their own methods for ramping up thyroid meds. It might not be a bad idea to discuss this with your wife's doctor.

Most thyroid savvy doctors start patients on 30-60mg (1/2 to 1 grain) Armour with instructions to increase to a higher dose (adding 15-30mg or 1/4 - 1/2 grain) within two weeks and then labs at 4 wks. Dose increase continue every 4 wks. until symptoms are eliminated.

It takes 3-4 wks. for thyroid hormone levels to stabilize after starting thyroid meds/dose adjustments so I'm not sure why your wife had labs done so soon.

Hopefully, she was told to take her Armour after the blood draw....otherwise, her Free T3 level will be skewed artificially high.
