Yes, I have even more questions. It is said we will get what we need to learn. I have always had a problem asking for help. Lyme has pulled that problem right out from under me. I am trying to order the above herbs to start the BP. I click on links he has and Reservatol comes up? Where do you Lymies order from? I found a Jap. Knotwood on Amazon from a Montana Farm but no way to know if it's a good product. Thanks. AGAIN.

Hey huddie! Welcome. I noticed your other thread said you were infected 17 days ago? If so are you taking abx? I am going to start treating herbally myself with BP, but i was infected two years ago. If you are in the early stages I would highly recommend finding an LLMD and getting a full course of abx as that is the easiest stage to cure this illness and abx are known effective. Buhner protocol is more designed for chronic lyme and those who have nothing to lose.

That said if you still want to go forward with it, where you order just depends on what you're trying to get. 1stchineseherbs has knotweed. I think i got my cats claw from pacific botanicals and others from woodland essence and montana farmacy. 1stchineseherbs and green dragon botanicals are the go to for knotweed if i'm not mistaken, though 1stchinese is far cheaper

For the record, i am no herbalist, but from what I can tell montana farm is high quality. Their cryptolepis is VERY effective at least

I would also recommend a high potency standardized milk thistle extract. Knotweed (among others) can be hard on the liver in rare cases. Also not a bad idea to get your enzymes checked periodically if you can afford it. Not trying to scare you, just trying to avoid any set backs to getting well

Yes I agree with Psil. Montana Farmacy is a very well respected company. I order many of my herbs from there as well as from sage woman herbs. Even though Montana Farmacy is on Amazon they also have an independent site. Ive been having really good results with the alchornea, crypto and houtt from Montana. I also get houtt from nutramedix.

BTW Psil, he is already on abx.

at first i started with JK in pill form, the Paradise Herbs brand- i found that gave me some GI issues (b/c of something called emodin in Resvertral)...i now use the root powder that i got from amazon from 1st chinese herbs...tastes like a cigarette ( i mix a tsp in lemon water 4x a day), but no GI issues

It's a highly personal choice as to what a person uses abx or alternative means to heal from these infections. We do need to be careful with our words to not give the impression that one way is better or more effective than than another way - because everyone is very different and we just don't know.

We do have a listing of several companies that many here use to order from in our "New to Lyme?" thread - near the bottom of page 1. Even if you shop on Amazon, you can look for these companies until you get more familiar with the better brands of things.

Resveratrol comes from two different sources - grape skins and Japanese Knotweed. You need to be sure it's from Japanese knotweed (be sure that it's Polygonum cuspidatum).

When you get ready to start these, do be sure to only start one new thing, and start off at one drop the first 3-5 days. If you are not herxing, then you can use one drop in the am and one drop in the pm and hold that dose for 3-5 days, and so on.

These herbs work best when taken together though, so it's best to get on a low dose of all 3 and then raise the amounts slowly, and one at a time until you reach the therapeutic doses- rather than getting only one herb at a time up to therapeutic levels.

I so appreciate it. I have not had LD for 17 years, I am a newbie (bit July 4, bulls-eye July 14, started July 16 on antibiotics). I may have had it in the past since I have been diagnosed with fibro. but that may be from some other trigger. Anywho, thanks to you all for the herbal info. I will order. I want to go holistic once the abx are done, or do any of you combine?

Yes, many of us do combine...I think that is probably the majority of us.

You can start the herbs anytime. Just be sure to add them in - one at a time...at a very low dose.

Huddle, if you do decide to order from Amazon, make sure that if it says Montana Farms it is coming from there and not a 3rd party.

Astragalus is a herb that is good to use right after a tick bite along with Cats Claw.

I get my herbs at Sagewomen Herbs and also Iherb (they don't carry all of them but they do carry some and I think you don't pay shipping)

Keep coming back with questions.

If you want to do abx, you will have to find a LLMD quickly. If you find one, have them put you on a call list right away as you don't want to wait too long. That is why I would consider herbs, because you need to get treated immediately to get it before it runs rampant.

Also has anyone mentioned getting tested at the Igenix Lab in Calif.? They will send you a kit which you take to a local lab. You do need it signed by a Dr. of Chiro. But this is something you can do for confirmation if so inclined.
