Amazon has had their smile program for years where a small percentage of your purchase goes to the charity of your choice.

They have recently added Bay Area Lyme Foundation which is one of if not the largest private source of Lyme research funding in the U.S.

Mission: The Bay Area Lyme Foundation's mission is (1) to accelerate the development of reliable diagnostic tools for all stages of lyme disease and a cure for late stage lyme through funding innovative scientific research; and (2) to foster prevention through education and awareness building.

Y'know, I thought Bay Area Lyme was one of the good ones. But listing John Aucott under their scientists (http://www.bayarealyme.org/our-research/our-scientists/), and then looking at all of the their "Lyme Innovation Hackathon" names on the list (other than Dr Spector)-They seem to be either govt or MA area based or takes you to questionable sites, as if set up just for the purpose to appear legitimate.

And all about the vax-here we go again-cha ching.

One lists a:
"Davide Marini is a technology entrepreneur with experience in life sciences and engineering. Most recently he served as co-founder and CEO at Firefly BioWorks (an Abcam company). "Firefly introduced an innovative technology platform, based on individually encoded hydrogel microparticles, for high-throughput and multiplexed detection of microRNA biomarkers in blood."

The company Abscam does indeed seem to be a scam. Ironically for those who don't know, ABSCAM was a "Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) sting operation that took place in the late 1970s and early 1980s."

Ahem.

One co: "Memphis-based U.S. Biologic is looking to rabies prevention as inspiration for the launch of its first product. (http://usbiologic.com/vaccine-laced-mice-bait-lowers-rate-of-lyme-disease-bacteria-in-ticks/).

The company, which has developed an oral bait Lyme disease vaccine that is distributed to white-footed mice in fields around the northeast, is taking a similar approach as rabies prevention with the delivery method for its product."

Patient Recruitment
Sample criteria for the clinical trial are still being developed but will include:

200 patients, ages 18-65
All regions of the country
Evidence of prior acute and late stage Lyme disease
Ability to participate in the full course of the treatment and study

Wonder what "evidence" again they will require.
