I am currently on Cowden's Protocol for Lyme Disease and in the protocol it uses Samento. I have heard if you have a TH1 dominant immune system this could be hurting you. I also heard that Garlic and Medicinal Mushrooms hurt TH1 dominant immune systems, and that Turmeric/Curcumin hurts TH2 dominant immune systems. Has anyone found any truth to this? I don't know which immune system type I am but I don't want my protocol to be hurting me either. Can anyone shed light or personal experience on these immune system categories and how they affected your treatment?

Hi,
Lyme forums / lyme community / lyme Drs really dont mention much about
TH1 or TH2 dominance. Almost nothing. It was brought up last year here, might use the healingwell goggle search for only this web site.
You do hear about
it with treating autoimmune issues, results are mixed from what I've read and heard in person.
Maybe someone newer here has some info for you.

I found this article very helpful in understanding TH1 & TH2 dominant immune issues:

My doctor told me that I am TH2 dominant and what you want is a balance. So basically trying to up regulate my suppressed TH1 side.

This is where adaptogens such as rhodiola, cordyceps, Eleuthero, etc. come in. They are immunomodulators - they modulate the immune system.
Adaptogens raise areas of immune function that need to be increased....and they lower the areas that need to decrease.
