I don't have an answer for you, but I also feel better with some sun. We spent a lot of time on our boat this summer and I just felt healthier.

Two weeks ago I went for a week to a place on the beach by myself and I felt good, only 1 bad day. I think the change of sight and activities helped me and obviously the sun, I was careful on not overheating myself, but just being with nature, watching the full moon rising redish, all that make endorphines and other chemicals in my brain that helped. I remember waking up eager for a walk on the beach...So I think many of that happened to your son, at home try to make him do activities that makes him feel energized, happy, fullfilled...
Back home again I have good and bad days like a rollercoaster...

It's possible his body wasn't detoxing well - heat and humidity always equals sweat for me. Sweating is a very good detox!! Do keep an eye on him though, as even this form of detoxing can overwhelm us.

This is why they recommend infrared saunas. However even with the saunas you work your way up in what is tolerable.
I actually feel better when I've been out in the sun but that has only been since I've been treating and hopefully healing. I went through a period where the sun and warm weather was not my cup of tea.

See I almost always have worse flare ups in my tendons after spending time out in the sun, either going to the beach or attempting to do yard work. Usually after either of these activities I am pretty much disabled for the next 2 days.

Same here, Bdavis, if I don't time it just right. If I'm already feeling poorly, it will make things a lot worse, but if I'm doing well, then it's very helpful for me to have the extra activity and to sweat some to help remove more toxins.

I think the sun heat and humidity is less taxing on the immune system. Running around bare foot is a way to earth our bodies and there has been research the shows it reduces inflammation - according to a book I read called Earthing by Ober, Zucker and Sinatra. All that vitamin D cant hurt.
I remember reading a book by Wolf D Storl a german anthropologist who got Lyme 13 years ago. His book is called Healing Lyme Naturally. He talks mostly about
teasel root which helped his European lyme, he did herbal and essential oils for detox and was heaps better. The Lyme finally went for good when he spent a couple of months over summer on an island, swimming sun baking and just enjoying the hot weather. Nature has cures we dont really understand properly just yet.
I hope you find a way to help your boy. All the best.

That's wonderful news! I don't have an answer for you but I wanted to post because this also happens with our DS. Because he's been in treatment now for 9 months, this summer has been the best but even before we knew what was going on he always seems to do better in the summer - NO Lyme fatigue is the biggest improvement we see but other symptoms have lessened as well.
He is an outdoorsy, active kid when not sick. He has had a few breathing episodes and had to use ativan for one due to heat exhaustion - he was in extremely hot, humid heat trying to do lacrosse camp and had a bad time. The other time was when running - yes, he's attempting cross country despite his awful breathing symptoms (really central nervous system upset - oxygen levels are okay despite the fact that he doesn't feel like he gets good breaths). His inhaler helped with that situation.
I googled it because it was so shocking and I know that from mid Oct - mid June he does poorly. It was hard to find information but basically this is what I read from various posts - vit D and being away from germs of school might help. I can't say enough about
vit D - DS is so tan even though we have him wear sunscreen as much as possible because he's on antibiotics 2 weeks a month. I have let up some on supplements without noticing a difference too. He has pill fatigue so some days we stick to just the probiotic and a few others and let the rest go.
I also found online that many teens/kids do regress in the wintertime (pretty much from mid-Oct to mid-June too strangely) which is something we've experienced. I'm hoping this winter will be milder because he's been treated since Nov of last year - we shall see. He was off abx for 3 weeks rather than 2 the last go around and he started feeling crappy and then started a new protocol and has been napping (but is getting up early for cross country) which is not typical of him when he's not Lyme exhausted. So we are not through this yet but things are looking up. I feel like mid-Oct which is when he got the bite that sent him over the edge is when we'll be able to tell - he flares at that time.
Let's revisit this topic in a few months, okay!?
