For the ladies with flora imbalance (down there)

So my wife has been on 2 abx for about 6 weeks and has been having a yeast issue down there. She's sensitive to probiotics so has been taking Florastor which is doing well on her GI but not controlling the issue down below.

Did some research and came across several studies that say the most beneficial probiotics for that area are Lactobacillus Rhamnosus and Reuteri. Jarrow sells a product called Fem Dophilus which contains just these 2 strains. It's showing up tomorrow I'll let you know how it goes but apparently this is the best way to recolonize and keep the right balance of flora in that region. Here's an article on the subject.

I have only had a problem down there once and I thought I was going to go crazy. I had seen dogs scoot across the floor and I knew how they felt.

I hope this works for her and you are such a love to take care of her.

Only thing worse is a UTI.
I think I'd been on Doxy for 3 weeks and I had to say something to my male Internist. He prescribed two pills of something said "take these all at once, you'll be fine". And I was. Hadn't had a problem since.

Might have been Miconazole (sp?) I don't remember.

Same for me only once yearsssssss.......agoooooo.....it was because I was using cycling pants with underwear...
What took it away in very little time.....please do not laugh....it was yogurt, PLAIN with live culture, inside the vagina. TMI I know but it also feels good because is all fresh and cool.

Rikky, you are so nice to share that. Those infections for women are miserable. Your wife is fortunate to have you!

Artermix. I'm sorry, I did laugh. I couldn't help it.

I was just thinking -I think it was Traveler that mentioned this- a nice ice cube would feel pretty good. Or! how about a frozen yogurt pop, if the live culture is going to help. Sugarless, hopefully.

What a mess. I couldn't even stand the miconazole suppositories I had for the UTI.


This is funny. I try to proofread my posts before hitting 'submit' and I caught that I'd typed love instead of live. I think it's time I got some sleep.

I have a question guys. So my flora imbalance there happens when im OFF antibiotics. As soon as im on them, the flora imbalance clears up!!! Shouldnt it be the other way around?
