Update on Baby - any thoughts?

Hi guys,

So I promised an update on baby boy. My Lyme doc will be consulting with Dr. M in CT (who used to work with Dr. J) and determining what the next steps are and whether baby needs to be on antibiotics for the next 6 months. Also whether my doc should treat him or if I really do need to fly to CT for him to be seen by Dr. M.

Do you guys think this is a reasonable approach?

Apparently, baby also needs to be checked for babesia. My daughter was never checked for this when she was born, so perhaps I'll have them both checked.

Thanks for the update and it's great that there is some communication between the docs. Just also remember that testing for co-infections is often worse than checking for Lyme in terms of accuracy.

I think that is a good approach.

hopefully it won't take months for all that to happen.

Good to know about the co-infections. I couldn't recall the tests' accuracy.

My LLMD is trying to do things as quickly as possible - he's already in touch with Dr. M. I'm just really hoping that Dr. M is able to advise my doc so we can get things started asap.

He's also looking into doing another PCR on the same sample from another lab, as IGeneX keeps samples for a few months for the patient to use. I'm wondering if the sample can be used to test for the babesia... and whether that would give a more accurate result than a regular blood draw. I'd also love to avoid trying to take blood from baby if possible!

Dna connexions has a accurate urine test ..can be ordered with out a doc ..hope ti get it done for my little one

Thank you so much for the update!! And I don't know that anyone could ask for more at this point - I mean you do have 2 doctors working on this! LOL! And I'm so glad that you do, this is a scary situation!

I hope that they have a protocol to start your sweet little one on soon! And I'm really glad to hear that you are going to have your daughter checked for other infections!
