I worked my second job (waitressing) this past weekend for the first time in a month. I had a couple of good days last week so I really felt physically up to it (mentally, I was nervous since I didn't know how I'd react). I suppose I should feel happy that I made it through the 8 hour shift, but I could hardly walk by the end of the night. I was really sore yesterday, which I attribute to being out of shape. Today, though, my left elbow/arm is really sore, I can't concentrate, and I'm really in a BAD place mentally. I obviously overdid it.

I guess my question is: how active is everyone during the course of a week/day? I walk my dog 2-3 times daily (not miles and miles but around the block or up and down the street) so I am getting some exercise (not like I used to by any means). I know we are all different but I also feel like the less I allow myself to do, the less I feel like doing.

I don't want to get completely out of shape. But lyme seems to interfere a lot with staying in shape. The longer I am on my feet, the more nauseous and dizzy I become. Would love to do yoga, but hip bones hurt to sit, knees and wrists hurt to put pressure on, etc etc.

I don't know. I'm just sick of it all. Physically, I'm deteriorating. Mentally, I'm going insane. I can't figure out why I can't get myself together.

This is likely one of the hardest parts of healing - when to do how much. We must listen to our body to get direction and it sounds like you may be doing too much if the more you stay on your feet the more nauseous and dizzy you get - or it may only mean you have POTS and need to address that more aggressively.

We can only do what we can do, no matter what we used to do. Heck, I used to be a horse trainer and now I sit at a desk all day, doing only the minimal. So I completely understand that part. I get so frustrated with what I can't do, until I sit down and remember what I was capable of doing when I was bed bound. I try to be grateful for the things that I can do, but some days it's a real challenge.

I agree with Traveler. And it is different from person to person.
I say just play it by ear....so to speak. Waitressing is a very, very stressful job though. I admire you.

I'm upset because it's going to take me all week to recover. And I can't believe that I now count walking up the stairs at work as exercise. Ugh.

I'm going to look into the POTS thing, as I do seem to have mild symptoms. Who would diagnose/treat that? Cardiologist?

I was clinically diagnosed for my POTS...but mine is fairly mild.

There is a 'tilt-table' test that some Dr.'s use. You lay on a table that tilts and your bp, heart rate are taken in various positions.

Clinically I was diagnosed based on the fact that my blood pressure dropped when I stood from sitting, and my heart rate went up to 100 + bpm.
Also, my LLND saw that the tops of my feet were red..veinous pooling.

I am a no go on workouts for the most part. I still work out with my trainer x 2 per week... but all the HIIT routines I was doing are not good for me now. I have some foot issues, and have been in a boot so walking isn't even an option. It's killing me to do nothing right now, but i can tell it is necessary.

I'm only on 4 herbs at 1/2 dose so far, but i can see very small changes (lymph nodes in neck aren't hard anymore); so I am holding out hope that my patience in the area of workouts vs. not workouts is going to pay off. I love to push workouts to the limit, so this is very very difficult for me.

Hopefully, the foot gets better and I can at least take a walk. That would help...

3HumpedCamel that is a good news.....I had lymph nodes a little swelled before I treated for lyme I recall. Now hardly ever.
I hope there is a light at the end of this dark tunnel....

I think I finally figured out what I was really trying to ask (I'm having so much trouble communicating lately) lol

Can the dizziness/nausea from standing up be from resting too much? I know that sounds weird but can your body get too used to resting and cause POTS or POTS like symptoms? (I think that's what I meant by being out of shape.) Or is it more of overdoing it or a separate issue altogether (like POTS)?

Glad I cleared that up for myself haha

You got to get your body moving....that is all I know. The more you rest the worse it becomes.
Also the spirochetes hate exercise....really do.

Don't be hard on yourself. The fact that you were at a second job and standing for an eight hour shift is herculean.

Exercise is in my top ten things of favorite things to do. I love how it makes me feel mentally. Physically is a bonus, but mentally it's amazing. I can't. I also walk our dog a few times a day around the neighborhood. On good days I try and walk a mile. I do light stretching when I remember and a restorative yoga tape. I would have laughed at it pre-lyme. But now it feels good. There are a ton of free exercise videos online. RY is good because it gets you stretching and you take in oxygen.

I believe we all will get back to exercising but we need to be patient right now. The body remembers.

As far as exercise/movement, it all depends on the individual body, but basically, if it makes you worse/sets you back, it's too much for your body right now. This should get better as you heal.

Anyone that can take on a second job during this is getting enough exercise, especially as a waitress - been there, done that for many years.

Twenty minutes on the bike is great. That counts. I want to hear more about the oxygen concentrator. What is that and where do you buy one? Sounds great.

By the way just taking care of, and nursing three kids, keeps you moving I'm sure.

Thanks for the HBOT info. and the thread. It doesn't list the make or where to purchase. Sounds great although several had severe herxes. Love that one poster said it absolutely cured her. I'll be researching. Thank you - do you have a brand name?

Hi PMM73, have you tested for co-infections? your footer only mentions lyme test and doxy. Wondering if anything else could be lurking...

I tested negative for all coinfections (not through Igenex) so my LLMD told me I don't have any (I'm switching LLMDs for this and other reasons). I've suspected Bart for awhile but am now totally convinced that I have it. Just this morning, I noticed at least ten red spots on different parts of my body. Not sure how long they've been there but they are definitely new. Huddie just posted a thread about Bart and herbal treatment...going to try that route and see.
