Hi Doors!
" I was wondering if my UC friends could sound off?"
Why, of course!! Anyone that suspects they may be dealing with a tick-borne infection is welcome here!! We hope that's not the case, but always encourage people to check into the possibility when symptoms fit!
So, you developed UC after abx? Have you ever tried S. Boulardii protiobic? It's been proven to help with abx associated gut issues.
And yes, there are many secondary autoimmune issues that will respond favorably to Lyme treatments when a person has Lyme. I deal with 2 types of psoriasis because of my Lyme, but when I'm healed from Lyme (I was reinfected), I don't have any signs of psoriasis - or the Hashimoto's thyroiditis since I healed the first time.
You should be very cautious, and of course it would be best if you had a LLMD that understood UC as well. Judicious use of probiotics and careful dosing (so you don't herx badly) will go a long way to making this a tolerable journey.
If you haven't yet, it would be helpful for you to start with reading through the thread at the top of the forum titled,"New to Lyme?...Start here!!", as it is packed full of important information, symptom lists, helpful links and pdf's, how to detox when one has these infections, information on probiotics and much more. And this is another good list of possible detoxing routines:
www.tiredoflyme.com/detox-methods.html Detoxing is of great importance for most people - gene mutations, mold exposure and multiple tick-borne infections can all prevent us from detoxing well, but we must be able to get those toxins out of our bodies. We need to detox by several means daily, as detoxing has a cumulative effect - the more you do, the better your body is at keeping those toxins flowing.
Please do ask all the questions you need to! That's what we are here for, to help each other find our way through this!
