Daisies-I don't think that's true. I think that you are being told that as an excuse versus the truth. You are the legal parent or guardian which is the signature required when a minor gets medical treatment except for in the cases which Peteza mentioned but those don't apply.

They may not tell you if you are not the primary on the insurance account. That's possible. Whomever is the primary on the account would have to call in and add you as an authorized representative.

I handle the HR for our company and have become friends with our broker over the years. Insurance companies will do almost anything to delay payment. I've seen doctor's reimbursed 11 1/2 months after surgeries. The surgeon told me that's become common and not that bad. The longer they can hold off giving you information the longer they hold on to their $$. I'd ask for a supervisor and ask where it states that in their handbook.
