I'm sure everyone knows my story.

My teenage son was on doxy and azithro and beyond balance bab 2 for two months. This helped with joint pain, brain fog, headaches.

Because he has anxiety/ocd, brain fog, fatigue, insomnia, striae dr. prescribed azithro 500 mg and rifampin 600 mg /day. Son had massive panic attacks on 300 and 150 mg rifampin doses that took 3/4 days to recover from. Currently on only 250 mg azithro and bab 2 /day. He still has anxiety/ocd every day but no panic.

We have our appt. next Wednesday.

Is there even another abx to pair with azithro for bartonella? What if he can never tolerate Rifampin?

What would you guys do?

He hasnt maxed out on bab2 yet -I cut everything back when he had the panic attacks so I would know what was doing what. I just got a new bottle of it and you've given me a good idea to get it maxed out!:) did you like bab3?

Beyond balance has a lot of herbs in its mixtures - Some are liver cleansers aren't they?

Did you try Bar 2? It has houttunyia doesn't it?

Do you have any preference for toxease or toxease gl?

How many days of the 150 mg of Rifampin before he had the panic attacks?
Was it the day after the first dose?

If it takes a few days...of daily dosing..then maybe try doing the Rifampin every other day...see if that works...and eventually once the bacterial load drops...he may be able to take it daily.

....or maybe every 3 days give him 150 mg.

Apparently the most effective against Bartonella is the fluoroquinolones (Cipro/Levaquin) - but I consider them a 'last resort' bart antibiotic.
They come with a black box warning for risk of tendon rupture and also peripheral neuropathy (that can be permanent)

So, I wouldn't choose that one for your son...but want you to be aware...in case it is offered.
But I don't think your son's LLND would suggest it.

I was taking biaxin and ceftin for lyme.

So, he took 300 mg a day and after 5 days had a panic attack? Then 4 days later gave him 150 mg and had another panic attack the same night?

I'm wondering if after 4 days he still had a lot of toxins still in his system...and the 150 mg added enough to cause the panic the second time.


If/when you do try Rifampin again...I would only try 150 mg every other day. If he doesn't have the 5 day loading of 300 mg daily prior...it just may work...

biaxin may have some action on Rifampin...LLMD MR says a macrolide (biaxin or azithro ) paired with a tetracycline (mino or doxy) is a protocol for Bartonella.

But, I don't think it's effective very often (from what I've read/heard)

Maybe it will knock it back some...and you can try Rifampin later.

He could prob do more detoxing

He has 8 glasses lemon water and alka seltzer gold every day
But he wont do epsom salts soaks or dry brushing :(
He takes pinella (don't really notice anything tho ?)
We just got burbur -will try that.
He has a greens smoothie with antioxidants and chlorella/spirulina twice/day
He takes quercitin and curcumin
He tried activated charcoal but he is verrry constipated -he takes sennakot for that.
I should probably re attack this corner of his tx, right?

He thinks I'm crazy when I told him about dry brushing. But I will keep trying lol

He's on hmf forte probiotics.

I haven't given him a liver detox -i will order apo hebat from dr. C. Too bad - i just ordered psy stabil and gaba pro

Do you think milk thistle would be ok for now?

He was going to the gym 2/week but the last week and a half he's been exhausted coming down from the panic attacks. I'ce just had him focus any energy he has had on two courses for home schooling so he doesnt fall too far behind. He's taking last years math as it is from missing last year.

I will get us both to the gym tomorrow :) thanks sooooo much girlie for the support and really trying to help. It is so nice to have people who care enough to take the time out of their busy lives to help.

I will re-visit his protocols to make sure we stay on track ! :)
