I have a bladder infection and have been put on a five day course of antibiotics.

Should I continue taking my Buhner herbs while on these antibiotics? I feel nervous like I'd be taking too many things, I am on the max dose of his core protocol for Lyme.

Have you spoken with the doctor who put you on the abx? Have you spoken to your LLMD/LLND (if you have one)? I'm not sure if anyone on here could give you that advice with much confidence... Maybe Girlie or Traveler would know?

Buhner states in his books that the herbs he recommends can be taken alongside abx.

You will likely be okay, but you should check to be sure that the abx and herbs won't enhance or detract from the effectiveness of each other. There have been a few abx that have been found that do interact like this with Buhner herbs.

What abx were you prescribed?

Well, Bactrim is one of the abx that treats Lyme (I believe - it may treat Bart instead??), so depending on the dose, it may make you herx. I'm not that knowledgeable about the abx side of treatments, but I'm sure someone who is will be along shortly to help you figure out the dosages and if it's likely to cause a herx.

Thanks Traveler. It's a pretty low dose for a short time but you never know what will happen.

I feel scared that lyme is doing this to my bladder, as it feels like the worst bladder infection I've ever had. I hope the antibiotics works, like they always used to when I got these before lyme.

Bactrim is great for bladder infections, it will certainly help you. Eat cranberries, they strengtheen bladder and fight E. coli.

For some reason lyme loves bladders. It is one of its favorite places.

Blueberry suggested what I would do. Eat Cranberries or cranberry pills or cranberry juice without added any added sugar.
