Another help me interpret results request

So 41 & 66. Could be. What are your symptoms?

I was trying to find my copy of my uncle's western blot who definitely has lyme (als symptoms, bulls eye rash) because i think he was only positive on those bands through labcorp.

I had 41 & 58 but also 31 and indeterminite on 39. Your lab wouldn't show 31 or 34 nor would it report IND bands.

I've had symptoms for over 25 years, diagnosed with fibromyalgia way back. Increase of symptoms over the last 2-3 years-dry eyes, numbness on one side of face, muscle pain in neck, ribs, hip, extreme fatigue, recurrent sinus problems, costochondritis, weight loss on and on. I've been tested for every autoimmune disease plus has MRI of brain. It's very frustrating because I know I am not supposed to feel this way and I do not believe it's only fibomyalgia.

My ELISA was negative- less than 0.91. So with these 2 reactive bands I am still negative for Lymes according to Quest Labs. I am unfamiliar with the interpretation of these lab results and what these particular bands indicate, if anything. Researching on line has made me even more confused . If these reactive bands are not reason for further testing then I can accept the negative results and look for the cause of my symptoms. But if they are I need to push for further testing with my doc. Very confusing!

First you need to understand that the testing you had done is poor. A western blot is not a direct test. It basically tests to see if your body makes antibodies when seeing parts of borrelia. If you have been sick awhile a weakened immune system may not respond to the bacteria enough to be positive. Also, like I said before, the lab your doc used does not include two specific lyme bands. These bands were took off long ago when the lyme vaccine was used and then never put back on. They are VERY lyme specific so you could be positive on them and not even know.

That being said, at this point in time your body made antibodies to the flagella (tail on bacteria - not necessarily lyme specific) and 66 is also common in bacteria.

I wouldn't base your whole diagnosis off this test. Your symptoms could be lyme disease, heavy metal toxicity, mold toxicity (sinus stuff possibly) and even other things like coinfections, viruses, parasites, thyroid, adrenals, diet (gluten, sugar dairy) and lots more! A good LLMD would explore each avenue. Lyme disease is usually never "just lyme." It's a collection of things that you need to address. When you look for a LLMD you could ask if they test for all these things.

It seems like you've wasted a lot of time with the rheumy and still have gotten nowhere. I would say at this point switching to an LLMD is your best bet.

You don't need to "convince" your doctor of anything. You can take the Igenex test on your own. You can find a LLMD and start treatment on your own.

Where are you located? Someone here may be close to you and may know of a "Lyme friendly" doc that would be willing to sign the Igenex form for you.

As an option, I do have several LLMD'S in that area that I can share with you.
