Can Mepron cause deep coughing?

My son has had this terrible cough since beginning Mepron.

He was feeling very droopy before starting so may also have a respiratory tract infection.

LLMD had him stop Mepron Fri-Sun. His cough is still very deep.

I'm worried he has walking pneumonia.

I'm thinking of keeping him home from school and taking him to pediatrician.

However, don't want him misdiagnosed if this is classic Babs/Mepron herxing.

Hi. I saw your response, which is what prompted me to make a separate post. Trying to see if more people with Babs (and who took Mepron) have had the cough.

Here's the thing. His school sent him home Friday due to the cough. I tried to explain that it may be a symptom of his medication and they now think I'm crazy.

The school nurse actually said "what is a herx is it contagious?" LOL! My son was mortified as this was on speaker phone.

The look and the 'shhhhh MOM!' They are funny. My son only does it in public. At home he will still follow me from room to room.

I think cough is one of the possible side effects but I think it's bad if you get one of the 'possible side effects'. It's not a dry short cough it is the kind of cough were I would move away from the person doing the coughing.

It sounds like a bronchitis cough.

Thank you so much. I kept him home and will take him to pediatrician today to rule out walking pneumonia. He was up all night coughing. Hopefully it is just the Babesia, not that that's great but don't want to add one more thing to the mix.
