Just saw a good documentary on Netflix called Untangling Alzheimers.

Lee Goldstein is a doctor from BU in the documentary. He is developing a simple test for alzheimers that shoots photons into your eyes. In 2013 when the documentary was released, the test was not released. I'm not sure if they're still working on it.

Also, they had an interesting treatment for alzheimers at a hospital in Montreal(?) I believe, where they insert electrical probes into certain areas of your brain. I'd like to find out more about that treatment.

Does the documentary bring up the Borrelia connection to Alzheimer D. symptoms?

No, unfortunately it does not. :(

My take on Alzheimers is that it's really an "effect" or a "symptom" from multiple different diseases. In the documentary, they say that you're 50% more likely to get Alzheimer's if you have diabetes. They started treating people with diabetes with an insulin nasal spray. Their reasoning was that a cause of Alzheimer's is a lack of insulin in the brain.

I think this is one of the reasons they haven't found a "cure" for Alzheimer's yet. I think it's not a disease, in and of itself, but a common symptom that arises from multiple diseases.

I'm concerned because I feel as though I'm developing it, even though I'm only 35. I think the Lyme disease is causing Alzheimers symptoms to arise. That's why I'm considering hyperthermia treatment in Germany as a last ditch effort. I'm trying to figure out if this treatment is actually curing people right now.

In theory it makes logical sense that it would work, but I'm interested in learning more about people's personal experiences with it before I invest money into the treatment.

It's more than a symptom. There is lab evidence, done during autopsies, of spirochetes in the brain. And they can differentiate between Borrelia Spirochete and Syphilis Spirochete.

I myself relented to a Brain MRI this summer, because my MD didn't want to consider my cognitive and memory issues were Lyme related.

Even though the neurologist saw no evidence of lesions or anything of concern to her, and in spite of the (good) memory and cognitive tests I did in her office both that day and a previous time, her parting words were - I still wouldn't rule out Alzheimer Disease".

That sort of made me mad, and also determined not to let her run further invasive tests, because it seemed she would rather blame my symptoms on something there is no cure for, and would kill me, rather than consider Lyme, which through treatment can reverse the symptoms.

You should check out this documentary if you have Netflix. The test Dr. Goldstein performed was much more scientific than asking a few questions and leaving a judgment call to doctors. By shining a thin sliver of photons into the lens of the eye, they detect plaques in the lens of the eye and can actually count how many plaques there are in the lens. Apparently, if there are plaques in the lens of the eye, there are plaques in the brain.

The reason I said Alzheimer's is a symptom, is because the plaques seem to be a by-product of several different types of diseases. Kind of like carbon monoxide is a by-product of driving a car.

He says that Borrelia miyamotoi likes warmer temperatures. I wonder if hyperthermia would still work on this strain.

So have you tried antiparasite medicine like albendazole to treat lyme?

I just ordered some albendazole from alldaychemist. Once I receive it, I'll look up the dosage and start taking it. Will let you know how it goes.

At one time I had the symptoms of what this site considers stage 6 Alzheimer's, and some of the stage 7 symptoms. Obviously, I've healed a lot since then, thankfully. I'm obviously very convinced that these infections can very much be one cause of the horrible disease known as Alzheimer's.

Severe cognitive decline (Moderately severe or mid-stage Alzheimer's disease)

Memory continues to worsen, personality changes may take place and individuals need extensive help with daily activities. At this stage, individuals may:
Lose awareness of recent experiences as well as of their surroundings

Remember their own name but have difficulty with their personal history

Distinguish faces but have trouble remembering the name of spouse or caregiver

Need help dressing properly and may, without supervision, make mistakes such as putting pajamas over daytime clothes or shoes on the wrong feet

Experience major changes in sleep patterns

Need help handling details of toileting (for example, flushing the toilet)

Have increasingly frequent trouble controlling their bladder or bowels

Experience major personality and behavioral changes

Tend to wander or become lost

I just noticed this cautionary note at the bottom of the page. I wonder what type of steroids are used to prevent the fatal encephalitis.

Cautionary note:

Nematode infestations of the CNS require very careful treatment and monitoring by an experienced physician. Patients should not attempt to self-treat. Some anthelminthics can cause severe inflammatory reactions which might require concomitant steroid treatment in order to avoid a fatal encephalitis.
