How quickly or how long can it take for the EM rash to appear? Also, does the EM always appear at the site of the bite, or can the tick have bitten elsewhere but the rash appears in a different location?

The time will vary, apparently. I could less than a day, or take months, or not at all.

Not sure about the last question.

Ok, it can come up in random areas.

I did a quick google search on previous questions similar to yours and found out it can.

Yes, the EM rash can appear anywhere on the body - not just at the site of the bite - and it can come on any time during the infection or during treatments.

I don't usually get Bart rashes until I start treating Bart, but I've never had an EM rash in my over 40 years with this infection. =/

Lymepilot,

I had full bullseye show up about ten days post tick bite. In same area. LLMD thinks I may have been reinfected (due to odd symptoms/diagnosis) but never saw tick, bite, nor had rash.

My son has lyme but never had rash at time - however, in the last year and a half he has gotten weird all over rash/hives type on torso. So from my very small sampling, it varies.

Four months in I'm probably 70% right now, up from about 20% functionality.

The reason I asked the question is because I'm surprised that my case took so long based on how "early" I thought we caught it and how aggressive treatment has been.

I was on a months course of abx within two days of the EM rash appearing, and within 30 days was on a months course of IV Rocephin.

I'd betcha I was bit a couple weeks prior to the rash and the infection already started to disseminate throughout my body, and what I thought was an immediate catch wasn't so.

I believe the same thing happened for me. I had tick, bite, bullseye and treated right away. Got way sicker than most people who treat right away. Now convinced that my prior odd symptoms and eventual fibromyaliga diagnosis a year or so earlier may have been undiagnosed lyme.

We can still heal just takes longer. I view the newer infection as something positive. We could have gone years without knowing.

Many, many people have been infected numerous times.

I'm lucky in the sense that I had the EM rash and thrice tested positive CDC through quest. There is no question what so ever I have Lyme. I wouldn't feel so confident that I will heal had I only had a clinical diagnosis.

The first LLMD I saw would have a heart attack if he had to use a leaf blower. He told me he doesn't walk in grass. Quack job, i fired him immediately.

There's definitely no reason to be paranoid and ruin your life trying to avoid ticks, since there are many other insects that can pass these infections along.

Listening, caring, yes - lucky in the sense you had an EM rash. I didn't have an EM rash, it was a clinical diagnosis, it is weird to treat for something where there isn't the type of physical evidence in terms of blood work or scans that supports the diagnosis that goes bling - this is it.

The proof is in the pudding so to speak.
1. clinical diagnosis
2. treatment - do you herx? yes I did
3. decline in symptoms - I have

So... on a lyme protocol I have improved significantly. Could it be that a lyme protocol happened to also take care of something else. I imagine so. Do I care? nope... I just wanted my life back.
