GAPS diet?

My daughter seems to be having leaky gut and some other gut related issues. She has wide spread infections from ear, to sinus to UTI, to her intestine. She's been on a pretty restrictive diet because of anaphylactic reactions to foods. She's 3 years old. I'm looking into the GAPS diet and wondering if anyone has tried it. I mentioned that I think she may have gotten lyme from me during pregnancy to her immunolgist. He wasn't opposed to testing her and helping us figure this out, but he wants to get the gut and infections under control so that her blood tests are not skewed.

I think it's wise of you to be questioning lyme.

Hope that the immunologist can get her feeling better.

Thanks Krimpet. I just bought the book. I've been making and stocking up on bone broth all week. I'm worried that she simply won't eat it.

Hi dacarte. She's been GF, DF, starch and processed sugar free for 2 months out of necessity. She keeps going into anaphylactic shock from like 6 different foods. Sadly, we've seen zero progress other than keeping her from anaphylaxis (minus on Thanksgiving day).

So here we are. Her immune system is a train wreck, her gut is shot and she's only 3. Ugh. But we're sticking with it. 😀

I agree though about the gluten, starch and sugar. I stay away from those like the plague. If i don't, then I get sick

There could be a simple and effective solution to this.

The bone broth brand Great Lake Gelatin, has essentially no taste. You could put in her beverage and she won't even notice or you can sprinkle it in her food when you prepare it. She wont even taste the difference.

Throw the great lakes in one of her favorite drinks or just water and she wont notice. Make sure the water is room temperature or just slightly cold so it mixes well. You may have to give it 10 mins to completely dissolve if the water is too cold.

I know this is an old thread, but wondering how Jingles' daughter fared on the GAPS diet.

I just bought the book and am going to order the cookbook.
