Help!! Hearing loss is driving me nuts

Hi there:

I had unexplained hearing loss in my left ear 6 months ago and then was recently diagnosed with Lyme, Babesia, Bartonella and Ehrilichiosis. The hearing stabilized, but never returned to normal. I Began Dox in November. This morning my hearing pretty much went out and I have loud ringing and weird noises coming from my ear. I'm going nuts!! I can't hear my own voice and my kids--which you think would be a relief but it's frightening.

LLMD thinks it's a herx reaction.

Anyone else experienced this?? Did you get relief?

I don't have hearing loss, or loud ringing...but I have pulsatile tinnitus. I hear/feel a heartbeat in my ears...sometimes it's a swooshing sound beating.
It's worse on my left (bad) side.

I think mine is from Bartonella...and it's worse when I'm flaring/herxing...but still there the other days, too.

Mine has gotten much better since treatment...and I thought it was completely gone a few months ago...but that only lasted a few days.

I think it's a herx reaction as well. What are you doing to detox? Go back to our into New to Lyme? and re-read it. Detoxing is a very important aspect of healing or your system will be too overloaded with die-off, and that's what you may be feeling.

Ear ringing is common with Lyme and coinfections, and it is reversible, so try not to be afraid.

I do have it, but mine is more related to too many years of loud rock music, I'm pretty well used to it. But the hearing loss isn't something you should be living with.

You might also check some youtube videos on massage draining Lymph nodes in the face and neck, they could be stopped up as well. Some of them are located right behind your ears.

Thank you both for your comments! I'm sorry you both have been dealing with ear issues, but it is nice to know I'm not alone. And something else occurred to me--I have Bell's palsy on the left side and my swelling/tingling symptoms are worse on the left too. May be all related.

Okay I'm going to attack this herx reaction and hope for the best!

My left side is my worst, too. And I had tingling, numbness on my left jaw area..and then pain...one Dr. said it was a 'mild' bells palsy.

I'm so sorry that you are dealing with this, Lpenkower! I too have experience this - and it's miserable and painful when it happens to me. I get a very loud ringing, then my hearing cuts out for a while. For me, it's not lasted beyond a couple of hours though.

I would start with increasing your detoxing for sure, but I would encourage you to also talk to your doctor about supporting the health of your nerves - the Bell's palsy indicates nerve issues as well. It may be swelling, or the myelin sheath that's being attacked.

I feel so bad for you!!!

I went through this a month ago and felt like I would go crazy. I totally lost the hearing in my left ear except for the loud humming and pulsing in that ear. I finally figured out that it was herx and detoxed like crazy. I did a lot of ear massage. I used detox tea, activated charcoal, pinella and burbur and alka-seltzer gold. I had gotten lax on all of these and paid the price.

Suddenly one day I was just pulling on my ear to try and clear it and it kind of popped and was clear as a bell!

Praying it clears for you soon. It is so uncomfortable.
