It's well documented that Lyme can cause eye and vision problems, so maybe that part of him being infected was killed off and his eye cells have been able to regenerate healthy!

At any rate, that is just wonderful!

I'm waiting to see if mine improve, although my right eye has a pre-existing condition that I wouldn't expect to completely go away, but I would settle for a little remission.




Oh, wait a minute!! I just remembered that a little over 3 years ago I was referred to a neurologist for a different issue, and in her exam she viewed into my eyes, and she commented that I was beginning to fog up in there with early glaucoma.

Last year, seeing my regular Dr. I mention that to him. He scoped them out and said he couldn't see a thing.
I was puzzled at the time, and just shrugged it off. But between those 2 appointments he had had me on abx treatments....Doxy and then Zith.

So now you've got me wondering if she was seeing something Lyme was doing, and the abx cleared it up. Who knows?

OMG 1000Daisies, you and I need to email again! LOL. I just came on after a break and see this. This happened to DS and is still ongoing. He's actually been complaining for years about his eyes, making us buy the magnifier glasses, taking him to optometrist who told us he was making it up and probably wanted glasses etc. This was before we knew what was going on.

Then last spring he was livid because he couldn't see or read so we left for the optometrist right after the LLMD appt and lo and behold he needed glasses for distance.

Then this fall, I read somewhere that we should really have a baseline eye exam by someone versed in Lyme. I found someone and at the same time DS complained again about his eyes and how he can't read etc. He had bolded and increased the font size long ago on his phone. This doctor readjusted his prescription. He dropped a full 1.0 on one eye for distance - meaning his eye sight improved. He also a bit begrudging gave DS a bifocal prescription because DS said his main problem is he can't read, along with the new script. We bought two types of glasses (one with distance correction and the other with near and far correction) and DS is now preferring the ones with the bifocals!

It's just plain crazy all this back and forth. He wants to see him again in 4 months to re-check him because he says they can keep on changing given his age and diagnosis. So you may need to do the same.

Anyway, just thought I'd share our experience.

PS the dr said that his eye muscles are probably "chronically fatigued" like the rest of DS. Not sure if this is true but there was not nerve or other eye involvement thankfully.

Glad it's good news for you! It's been expensive for us ;)

After being a stay-at-home mom, I went back to work in 2008 - all computer work...

about two years into this, my distance vision started to get fuzzy - noticed it most when I was driving - reading the road signs.

Went for an eye exam and got a pair of glasses...my distance vision had declined. It was blamed on eye strain.

A couple of years ago, I stopped using them because I found I was able to see the road signs again. 2013 or 2014.
Last year I went for an eye exam...worried about whether lyme had caused any issues with my eyes.
I was told to throw away my glasses...I don't need them anymore.

I don't think mine got better with lyme treatment...because I didn't have lyme symptoms when I got the glasses....UNLESS I did have lyme, but didn't know it...and that WAS one of my symptoms...

My friend has a Lyme literate eye doctor and she says that as patients Lyme improves their eyes improve too smile apparently there are people who found out they have Lyme because their eye doctor somehow could tell from their eye health. My twin met someone a fellow lymie who told her the eye doctor diagnosed them with a rare condition of the eye caused by two things, either Lyme or another disease that's easily found in tests. When the test came back negative the eye doctor told them to go find a Lyme specialist :0
