Plaquenil herx question

I've been on the Plaquenil (200 2x a day) since Wednesday. about a 1/2 hour after taking, I start to sweat profusely and my feet and shins start to tingle. Last night, I was sweaty all night and my arms were numb when I woke up. My right elbow, shoulder and hip have also been achy (sites of past injuries). I've been reading all the posts, but many people quit because of the tingling. I don't mind, if it's just a herx. I can power through. Just wondering when I might start to feel better. I know its early. The good news is I haven't been waking up with the severe dizziness and headache!

FYI, I am still on the Compounded Nystatin protocol (up to 5 a day) and Buhner herbs for Babesia and Lyme. Binders are Cholysteramine and MCP. Energy level is great, brain working great, mood fantastic, lifting heavy weights again no problem, back to complex problem solving. Loose stools, but I'm assuming it's Candida die-off.

So is the tingling listed as a side effect for the Plaquenil?


do you mind me asking why you are taking this particular med?
I see you've stopped antibiotics and switched to Buhner herbs.

I took plaquenil and had no issues. Hopefully someone else will have more info for you.

When I first started taking it after not doing anti-malarials for a few months I got this hot head feeling for a few days which was Babesia die off. I'd say most definitely you are experiencing a Babesia herx. In terms of when it'll die down no one knows that's completely dependent on your particular makeup.

I sometimes wake up with a hot, sore area on the back of my head...and also in the evenings when I get hot episodes, my scalp is hot.
Makes me question Babs...

Girlie - my scan in July reveal Babesia for the first time. I started the Buhner herbs for Babesia but they don't seem to be working well enough. My doctor said we could try plaquenil with the herbs and hopefully it will work.

Lyme isn't my biggest problem right now. The Buhner herbs seems keeping Lyme at bay. I'm on the Nystatin protocol because we are trying to see if the neuropathy is more candida related. I don't know yet. Most of the neuropathy in the feet is gone since being on the nystatin, but now my arms are going numb....

I shouldn't complain, I had 5 great days this week.

Yes, since Jan 2016, I've done 4 rounds of 10 days on/10 days off fluconazol plus I take it for 3 days prior to each LDI shot and 7 days after. It has never really changed my neuropathy, but the nystatin always seems to bring it way down. That is why I am doing the long term Nystatin for now.

plaquenil is a weaker antimalarial for babesia compared to mepron, malarone and coartem. usually you don't see an LLMD prescribe it for babesia but for its more well known benefits being an anti-inflammatory and drying out bacteria allowing the abx's/herbs you're taking to better penetrate and be more effective.
