When does the muscle twitching caused by Bartonella stop??

I've been dealing with this for so many years and I am so sick of it. The past few weeks the twitching on the left side of my head by my ear has gotten worse. Every few days now it twitches, and it'll keep twitching for about 5 hours. I look crazy walking around with two fingers pressed to the side of my head because its twitching. Magnesium citrate doesn't really work, neither does B vitamin. My doctor said it SHOULD get better as we treat the bartonella but it sure doesn't feel like it.

I started Rifampin late August, added azithromycin in mid Dec. Started interfase plus last friday and Tri fortify this week. My doctor told me that starting these two supplements that I will herx but this doesn't even feel like a herx, it's just twitching, especially in the same spot!

For people that have went through this with Bartonella, when does it stop? I'm on my 6th month now on bartonella treatment, this is ridiculous.

Lyme symptoms are so strange. We all have different ones. Some drop off our "list" quickly when in treatment and some stay all the way to the end.

There are many different theories as to why this is and I have not found a fact based reason why some go away sooner than others.

Just hang in there. I know I had this horrible twitch by my mouth that drove me crazy. I just knew everyone could see it. My husband always said, "I don't see it."

And, I had the twitch in my knee.

I have no idea if I had Bartonella. I never did test for co-infections. I did treat for them just to make sure.

I switched to magnesium orotate and it's helped with some of my muscle twitching. This is the article that got me to try a different form of magnesium: www.globalhealingcenter.com/natural-health/types-of-magnesium/ It's stopped the majority of my muscle twitches.

I still get them near my eyes the most often though. I just had a 'set' of muscles twitching below my left eye that lasted 2 weeks, non-stop (at least during hours I was awake). Now, I'm waiting to see where it will pop up next. LOL!

For me, the twitching lasts until I get the Bartonella under control - however long that takes.

This is off your topic, but were you on Rifampin only from Aug to December?

My twitching subsided (about 80%) with lyme treatment...and then resolved with Bart treatment.

But, occasionally now I will have some twitching reappear in one body part for a day or two.

I had to do mag chloride topically and iv ...my eye was still twitching until i started sting with mini stings on the facial nerves ..took 10 months of iv and bvt ..it may be lyme in nerves too..high dose fatty acids .iv phos ...high dose biotin ,lions mane all helped to rebuild mylien sheith...kill build kill

Currently my most troublesome and annoying symptom. Seems the harder I treat, the worse it gets. Hope it settles down for you soon. Good luck!

I don't know if the twitching is always Bart. I think you can get that with Lyme also. But to your point, I hope you find relief soon.

I had the twitching in one of my eyelids for days at a time, for a period of weeks prior to my diagnosis.
After my start of treatment with minocycline (which my LLMD) said penetrates the brain-blood barrier, the twitches subsided and eventually disappeared.

Girlie, Yes. I know a lot of people say to be on more than 1 abx with Rifampin but my doctor decided otherwise.

Traveler, what brand of magnesium orotate do you take? The problem with my twitching is the worst in the same place (side of head) and lasts for hours! Completely ruins my day. Do you think the mag will help?

So you are on both zithro and Rifampin now right?

You should try the magnesium. I did try it and kept upping the dose (magnesium glycinate - less chance of diarrhea - according to the Dr.)
Unfortunately it didn't work for me.

Many people with lyme find it does work though...so worth a try.

Girlie, yes i'm on with and rifampin now. Do you know why the magnesium didn't work for you? Have you tried b complex vitamins?

I just use KAL brand of magnesium orotate. /goo.gl/rvffdk

I still get some muscle twitching - particularly around my eyes - but overall it's really eased up.

Why didn't magnesium work? I'm not sure...

I was on B complex vitamins...at the time, yes.

My bartonella treatment is going slowly....lost many symptoms...but a few hanging on..

How do people with gsstic issues manage all the magnesium and abx?I get upset stomach alot....

Lila - the magnesium doesn't bother my tummy...but I usually take it at night now and with a snack.

Take the abx with a meal.

The only one I currently take on empty stomach is Rifampin. And I only give it 1/2 hour before I eat.

Im fortunate not to have any GI issues though.

dr k believes oral mag just contributes to biofilm structure....maybe rochepin helped some with zith riffy bvt helped was relief til 9 month in ...
