minocycline

I was wondering what people think about using minocycline for lyme/bart. has anyone used it? are there any studies on this antibiotic against lyme? I can probably obtain a monthly script from a dermatologist for acne and I would be able to use it for lyme also. that way is easier than convincing doctors to give me antibiotic regimens.

I have ordered a lot of herbs that I stopped using because they don't sit well with me. so I have some herbs that are practically brand new that I don't want to go to waste. so email me please if you are interested In the green dragon cats claw, Japanese knotweed, or woodland essence JK plus formula.

Minocycline (or any ABX used alone) will not be enough to put Lyme in remission. Mino has good brain penetration, but should be paired with other ABX to hit all three forms of Lyme and other co-infections.

See the only symptoms i have right now are a swollen lymph node, fatigue, lightheadedness, and dark bags under my eyes. No pain or anything. Im at about 80% if i take it easy and sleep alot. As soon as i exert myself then i feel worse. Is this indacative of any specific co infection or are these general symptoms for any one of the infections?

minocycline is as good as ceftriaxone for neuro lyme, and one of a kind for oral antibiotics, so stuff that gets to your brain in large amounts without using a PICC line. Of course, it only kills the spirochete form (just like ceftriaxone does) so if you take it alone you will not go too far.

Another good aspect of minocycline is it's neuroprotective effects /www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3127230/. So it helps even treat the effects of the lyme.

i was not able to tolerate 300mg for more than 3 days in a row. went to the ER a couple of times.

oh and the herx was very very intense

Gave me slight depression and affected my sex drive after a while (presumably). I swear I could feel it working, though. I think it was a big help for sure. Switched off after a couple months.

I started it at 100 mg once daily, too....got some dizziness...for awhile.

Then went up to 100 mg twice daily.

It helped with my 'head' issues (sensation of pressure behind my eyes)

Funny thing is, after taking Minocycline for a couple weeks and it hitting hard, the week I went off, my mind was as clear during that week off that its been since I got sick. Maybe im wrong, but I think its the ticket for me. We shall see.

yes i very much resonate with that, i remember going out in my back yard a few days after being done with minocycline, after a horrible herx. And the perception of reality was so different. Everything was so vivid and alive, colors, sound and smell, all happening simultaneously, but in a way so quiet and calm... it is hard to describe ... was a synergistic effect that we call "perception of reality" that healthy people take for granted and when u get sick with lyme a think veil of fog gets over your brain and clouds your mind...

i have not experienced this with anything else but miocycline, i think it has to do with both its anti inflammatory effects over the brain and the fact it killed a lot of bugs in the CNS....

ref antibiotic protocols - there are many different approaches and views on this - as there are no definitive medical trials to validate what works best - so what we are left with is small scale trials and the protocols of the major LLMD's who publish their approaches

ref pulsing - Dr J - one of the longest serving LLMDs
uses a pulsing approach - 2 weeks on M/W/F - then a week off - restarting on the following Monday
he continues until symptoms are gone or nearly gone - and there is no herx like reactions to abx
i beive his doses are double the normal daily dose - as he uses long acting abx and doses alternate days
by the way - he usually uses at least two antibiotics for lyme - eg a tetracycline like minocycline and a beta lactam - like a cephalosporin or penicillin type drug

ref the Lyme herbs - Buhner recommends they are taken 3 or 4 times a day in divided doses
i think he does this as it ensures consistent levels in the blood for all the herbs constituents.
for some these herbs seem to be enough for people to recover
for me they were mostly supportive - reducing inflammation etc
