I don't know enough about DNA Connexions testing to know how to help you. Sorry. I just didn't want you to think that your post was being ignored. I'll help you keep it bumped up while I'm on the forum this morning though.

Got it. When I received the kit it stated to exercise for 30 minutes prior to giving the sample. I did the most strenuous cardiovascular workout I have done in two years prior to taking my urine.

I would assume I have a fairly prevalent infection and co if I am testing positive on this test. I will see if I can email DNA Cnx, maybe they will at least be answering emails this week. Odd they would shut down their customer service for a whole week just for a move.

If they are highlighted, then it means you tested positive for those. NSA usually indicates that it is an older infection.

Do you know when you were infected? When do you see your LLMD again or can you contact him? He should be able to help explain the results for you.

DNA connexions results are what they are. If you see a check mark then they detected the DNA of that organism and you have it. In your case you have Lyme and Bartonella. This is huge news because you know what you have and can target treatment. The challenge is when you don't know what you have and you have to experiment, look at symptoms (which overlap a lot) etc. and do trial and error to treat.

Note you could have other things as well (not that I'm trying to scare you).

The F7 and OspA is just different parts of the Lyme organism they can detect.

I agree with your LLMD on that. And yes, the increase of symptoms indicates die off. I would encourage you to increase your detoxing to ease those symptoms some.

Clarification: the LLMD said my SFN is a clear symptom of Lyme and Co in his eyes. I have yet to speak to him about the exacerbation of this issue since being on his treatment plan.

Mine healed when I successfully treated my first set of infections. It's back now that I've been reinfected, but not nearly as bad thankfully.

Don't even bother trying to figure out how you got it. Many of us ask the same questions. I'm never in the woods the most nature I see is in people's backyards but guess what? I live in NJ and ticks are everywhere in fact a recent government study said 50% of all US counties have ticks with lyme disease. That's pretty much most of the country.

The thing is, there are many insects that carry these bacteria - mosquitoes and deer flies have been scientifically proven to carry them and to be able to transmit enough bacteria to cause an active infection in people and animals - and that's not to mention all the insects that are suspected to carry it.

As Rikky said, it can be impossible to figure out when a person picked up the infection because of this and other factors.

And, in testing, an 'early' infection is really only telling us that it's active. Not that you have only recently been exposed. People can be exposed to the bacteria for years/decades and not have symptoms get bad enough for them to really notice them until some stress comes into their lives.

And, the gov't study that Rikky posted about - that's only for those counties/states that actually recognize that Lyme is an issue in their state. You won't find the correct numbers in Arkansas for example, because it's not being diagnosed, even if the person has every single symptom of Lyme, including a bulls eye rash and positive testing to back it up.

One last question, have any of you heard of a person with Lyme having persistent red bumps on their buttock region? They are tiny pimple sized bumps. Some stay for months, others come and go, some eventually turn to a dark purple color almost like a scar. They have been present ever since my symptoms started. I have been to number of dermatologists and gotten no answers other than folliculitis. I have read on-line that they can be part of neuropathy, but a neuromuscular neurologists I saw at UCLA did not have any answers to what they were (she was pretty much worthless).

Why do you say that?

Often the neuropathy resolves with continued treatment...and then healing.

The second neurologist I saw told me SFN is usually with you for life. She was very stoic in her bedside manner. She was taking me down the path of MS, although she is not an MS Specialist and she liked to write prescriptions for very expensive meds. There were lots of red flags with her. I think most of her patients are migraine and epilepsy patients.

It's reassuring that a few of you here were able to reverse your neuropathy with treatment. The SFN has taken me to a dark place. If mine can be reversed that would be wonderful!
