Where did you read cat's claw has fluoroquinolone? It has quinovic acid which is not related.

You're interpreting them right, they're not interpreting the science right. Go look up the structure of fluoroquinolone on google images. Then look up quinovic acid. If you have no background in organic chemistry that's fine. It's all about shape and charge and as you can see these compounds don't look a darned thing alike. Nor is one derived from the other. Quinovic acid is more related to cholesterol than quinolone drugs. I'm pretty sure Buhner has a healthy sized rant on this somewhere in his second addition book. However, that doesn't mean it can't be antibacterial. But plants contain all sorts of variations of this particular chemical motif. I wouldn't be worried about it unless you have a specific sensitivity to it or cats claw.

"The quinovic acid controversy: A rumor has spread that the quinovic acids in cat's claw are, at root, the same as quinolone antibiotics. The rumors say that this is why cat's claw is effective against Lyme spirochetes. Concern has been generated by this untrue assertion because quinolone antibiotics, in some instances, can cause severe inflammationi in tendons. So, the word is that cat's claw can cause tendonitis, resulting in tissue destruction over time. This is all completely untrue. The quonovic acids in cat's claw are structurally different than quinolone antibiotics. Molecularly, they are not the same at all and they do not do the same things."

He says Stephania and Teasel Root to replace Resveratrol and cat's claw.

I have read Stephania for JK before...so I'm assuming the Teasel Root is for cat's claw.

Definitely can be a herx reaction.

Maybe go to 10 drops...see how you do....if fine..stay there for a bit before increasing to 11.

Is this 11 drops once daily?

Again, thank you for all your researches..My anxiety really revved up thinking that these meds had a quinolone derivative.

Also wondering if Japanese knotweed causes difficulty breathing. This is one of my symptoms, at times, but when taking JK at higher doses the breathing is horrendous. .I can't get above 11 drops. Does anyone know what causes this problem? Can it be a herx reaction?

I have this symptom at times as well. Sometimes for me it's gas. But when it isn't I take P73 oregano oil and it helps tremendously. about 10 drops in a little water.

Blue is this the reasoning Cowden cited for the TOA free version? Because I have yet to find another herbalist who agrees with him and if that's the reasoning it's simply wrong. Also I can't find anything that says quinovic acid is a TOA. Not to say that TOA free might work better for some people for other reasons, but given as there's no current reasoning to support the removal of TOA, nor any relationship between TOA and quinovic acid, nor any relationship between quinovic and and quinolone drugs I would recommend sticking to the tried and true whole herb and only trying otherwise if OP is intolerant of the herb

Buhner is a good herbalist however i bet trav will be better ...he doesnt even really promote killing the infection ..that aside ...and having had a sulfa reaction i cant imagine being floxed ...i hear plaquinil can do it and its different but similar to chem structure ...i sypathize with the caution of sensitivities and its why i wont try dapsone ...
