This is something that most of us taking these abx do know about

(The Long QT syndrome)

But, always good to bring up the subject again for those who may not know.

Edit - maybe I should say some, not most of us know -since the Docs aren't always having discussions about risks of these meds.

It can happen with biaxin too (same class as zithro)

The more disturbing thing is we pay doctors to watch for those types of things, and yet, we are forced to be the ones to know this.

"The FDA is warning the public that the pills can cause abnormal changes in the heart’s electrical activity that may lead to a fatal heart rhythm. Not everyone is at risk. Patients with known risk factors such as existing QT interval prolongation, low blood levels of potassium or magnesium, a slower than normal heart rate, or those who use certain drugs to treat abnormal heart rhythms, or arrhythmias face the greatest risk."

So, it's a warning mainly for those with the above mentioned issues - but I would say that if, while taking Zith, if a person starts having any heart related issues, it's time to get to the doc, asap.

I remember having a few "discussions" on this awhile back and being concerned about the 'acquired" long qt syndrome that can happen.

Sometimes it's not seen on the EKG

I took it for a year. My llmd pulled me off it and doxy very suddenly. Not that it was helping
