Questions about different herbal tincture concentrations

Hello everyone!

I have been ordering from Woodland Essence, and am thinking about changing to Monteagle Herbs (I'm from Canada).

WE Japanese knotweed is 1:5, Gou teng is 1:5, houttuynia is1:3, and Herb Pharm Eleuthero is 2:1

All of these herbs are 1:2 at Monteagle.

Here's my dumb question 1:2 is stronger than 1:5, right?

So, Should I halve my son's current dosage (except for houttuynia and Eleuthero) when I start with the 1:2, right?

1:5 is stronger than 1:10.

It is 1 part herb (is the first number) and 5 or 10 parts menstrum (menstrum is the liquid, be it alcohol, honey or water)

Extracts are about the same. So a 1:4 is 1 part herb to 4 parts solvent.

Solid Extracts
A concentrated Fluid Extract, usually the consistency of a thick syrup concentrated by evaporation or vacuum extraction to a dry herb ratio of 4:1. This represents four parts herb for every part of extract.

I suggest starting each of them at one drop 2xday, but maybe I'm misunderstanding you and he is already at 35 drops2/day with the jk and gou teng, etc.

Has he started any of them already or?

I would say stay at his current dosage amount, even if it's stronger. His system is already familiar with the herb and has started its 'job'. If he has been alright so far, then try the same amount. In this case he may show a reaction (if he's going to), by the next day. In which case that would be the signal to cut back by 1/3 or even 1/2.
