Tachycardia and dizziness

Minocycline can cause dizziness as a side effect. I believe it is in part due to the fact that it penetrates the blood/brain barrier well.

It often will subside after awhile on it. So, did you just start the mino today or yesterday?
If not, if you've been on it for a week or more...and now you're getting the dizziness..plus tachycardia it could very well be a herx.

The tachycardia does sound like you're herxing..

Are you already doing enough to detox?

So you're taking 100 mg twice daily now?


I would up the detox...and if the tachycardia doesn't subside (is it all day long?) then you might need to back down to lower dose...for awhile...


So, did these two symptoms start after the increase?


I have tachycardia - part of my POTS package. But, only when I stand from sitting.
If you're having it constantly...you want to get it in check...

See what you can add to your detox regimen.

If your heart rate is really high and continuously...you will need to address it. ( is it over 100 continuously?)


So, if the detoxing doesn't help...I would consider lowering your minocycline back down...and then after awhile try raising it again.



You said "up a bit" if you're talking going from say 75 bpm to 85 bpm - that's not something to be worried about...but I would still see what other detoxing you could add.

Since I started Mino I have had some tachycardia and dizziness. Anybody else have this during a herx?

i always have tachycardia and dizziness when herxing. i would say that unless u feel head/eyes pressure, that is more likely to be a herx than mino side effect. For example i got terribly dizzy on Samento when i first started to take it.

I've also experienced this and I've realized in the last month or two that I also deal with POTS.

I had a check up with a Lyme friendly cardiologist that did all the necessary testing and he explained that what I was feeling was -Premature beats that occur in the atria (the heart's upper chambers) are called premature atrial contractions, or PACs. Premature beats that occur in the ventricles (the heart's lower chambers) are called premature ventricular contractions, or PVCs.

The cardiologist explained that we have our own pace maker and some times for varies reasons it send the wrong signals. In our case it's due to the diseases/bacteria we have and when we eliminate that we will eliminate the errant signals.

For my peace of mind I bought a fitbit HR (heart rate). It's also shown me how much better I've gotten in how much more active I am now then when I bought it which was maybe a year ago.
